I bought this about four years ago and have found it to be an indispensable tool in the kitchen. At the time of purchase I had neither the money nor space in my kitchen for a food processor. I decided to give this a try, reasoning that it would probably be adequate for our two-person household.
The metal shaft on the blender makes it ideal for blending freshly made soups etc. Blenders with a plastic shaft can warp if thy get too hot. I also use it for mixing batter etc. I would recommend this over the chopping jug if you need to puree something. The chopping jug has served me very well, making short work of chopping carrots, celery, onions etc. For chopping I use short pulses, rather than a continuous blend. The beaters are perfect, do exactly what they should do. The only drawback with ANY of the accessories is that the whisk is rather vigorous, even on the lowest speed. This will be fine for some foodstuffs, but be careful if you intend to use it for small amounts or thin liquids, as the speed of the whisk can end up sending food flying out of the bowl onto everything in sight!
Build quality is, in my opinion, excellent. I know there has been some criticism of the jug (mention of the plastic spingle shearing off with the pressure) but as I said above, I think the blender shaft would do a fine job with anything that must be pureed. I could be wrong, so don't take my word for it!
