I have been using this mixer for about 3 years. I bake a lot and usually need to buy a new mixer every 18 months as something usually goes wrong. This has a more powerful motor than most and so can take the frequent use. It will mix 8 egg cake mixtures easily. I love the way the flex winds back inside the body of the mixer, much tider than winding it round the outside. My favourite feature is the single whisk (looks like a balloon whisk)it whisks cream much more efficiently.

Heavy - but you want it to have some weight.
Very well made. The slowest speed is brilliant for controllable whizzing and the fastest is hyperspeed.
So much better than my Kenwood. This Dualit is every bit as good as their toaster which is fantastic too. Quality costs more but is SO worth it.

When this mixer first arrived my immediate thought was that it seemed much more robust and powerful than the brand of hand mixer I have been using for the past thirty years. However, I just cannot get good results. First thing I made was Pavlova which I usually have no trouble with at all - it flopped completely. Next I tried it to make some sponge cake. Again not such a good result as I usually get using exactly the same ingredients, oven temp and baking tins - sponge did not seem to rise well and was dense instead of light and, well, spongey. I haven't given up yet and am prepared to believe the poor results are due to me, rather than the mixer, however, I am sorely tempted to revert to the fifteen quid Kenwood hand mixer I have used for years with excellent results. Sorry Dualit - your toasters are great, but not yet convinced about this mixer.
