I have now used this product for four months and have to say it does not function with anywhere near the performance expected of Dualit. The product is a two slot toaster and coast about £70. It looks very nice and is put together well BUT!
Previously I had a four slot Kenwood for which I paid £18.99.
The problem that I thought I would overcome with the Dualit was to achieve a more evenly toasted surface.
The Dualit when it arrives does not have the famous Dualit heater plates, in fact it has heaters of exactly the same configuration as most of the cheap toasters.
It does not brown evenly, the browning appears to be significantly influenced by the thickness of the bread and it is also influenced by whether there are one or two slices in the machine.
I have spoken to Dualit about this and they said something to the effect that 'this is a toaster we import and does not have the usual Dualit toaster heaters'
If anything I have to say that I should have kept the Kenwood and my £70.
This is in my opinion a product of a very poor value product and is merely trading on the quality brand of Dualit.
A great pity which hopefully they will realise and either put the usual heaters in the machine or remove the product from the market.
Would Mercedes put their brand on anything that did not reflect their brand image and consumer expectation?
