Great songs, great feeling, great vocals, this album's got it all. Knowing the other records of this American duo, I was really looking forward to this new recording of Over The Rhine and it's even better than I expected.
It has a very soft human touch, lots of soul (not meaning the musical genre but the depth of the songs), a great sound (listen to this piano, it sounds marvelous!) and there is this beautiful voice of Karin Bergquist, full of emotion, of life, of subtilities. Norah Jones, eat your heart out!
Linford Detweiler signs for most of these songs, but one can also enjoy a fantastic version of Rodger & Hart's "My Funny Valentine".
This album is worth every penny (or euro!) you pay for it, for everytime one listens to it, this music becomes more beautiful, more touching, more colourful, richer and more moving. A record worth to have in your collection.
I'm sure that you will also want the other albums of this band after listening to "Drunkard's Prayer". And believe me, they're as good as this!
