XTC hailed from Swindon to cultivate a legacy of highly original British pop born from their early punk/new wave roots in the late 70s. Their angular yet melodic songs, lead by distinctive jagged riffs boasted the catchiest of pop sensibilities which was then injected with an edginess by the darker overtones of astute and often political lyrics. Blast on a budget 2 April 2005
By C. Corrigan - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
Bought a version of this before "Transmission Blast" essentially assorted tracks that eventually appear on that boxed set.
Fun and Frantic 7 Sep 2013
By Donald E. Gilliland - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
As the CD's subtitle says, these tracks are from various BBC radio sessions recorded in 1977, 1978, 1979, 1982, 1984, and finally in 1989. The earlier dates are John Peel sessions, with later tracks from shows by David Jensen, Bruno Brookes, and Andy Kershaw. The tracks don't differ much in style from the original studio albumss, but the sound quality is very good and the performances most satisfactory. Maybe not an essential purchase, but one that I think most diehard XTC fans will be very happy to hear. Some great songs that I never get tired of listening to.
