This book is ideal if you have recently purchased a drum kit and wish to know the basics on first setting it up and secondly maintaining the drum kit. You are also given basic knowledge about the drums and cymbals. Setting up the drum kit and reading music are made easy with the book's step by step guides for a better overall understanding. This book also comes with a CD, and being able to play along to the professional backing tracks included on it, makes learning a whole lot easier for you. None of the information is over-powering due to the separate paragraphs included throughout the book. The many pictures included, add to providing the reader with a clearer understanding. In my opinion this book is definitely value for money and suitable for absolute beginners.

This book is incredibly helpful to any keen drummers and even teaches the pro's a thing or two ! It contains information on how to read drum notation, how to set up your drum-kit comfortably and even contains illustrated instructions on how to play some of the most basic beats. BELIEVE ME !! This book will raise your morale and have you playing 100 times better than you were before you even started reading it ! ... A great book !

The book is brilliant for an absolute beginner, but I am a beginner at drums, not at music in general, so I found some of the pages were wasted on me, such as notation and how to keep a rhythm.
However, the excercises are very good, and by the end of the book, i'd really learned something. I just wanted a little more...
