We have been looking for a new nut cracker for a while, and even went out and bought a ratchet job last week that failed to work straight out of the pack.
So on to Amazon and took a bit of a punt on the basis on 1 good review bought the Drosselmeyer Nut Cracker in Red.
Amazed that it arrived a couple of days after ordering, this weighty but small and neat (and extremely well constructed) nut cracker should last for decades.
The action is light and even on brazil nuts and almonds the lever action breaks the shells (and contains most of the shell) in the bowl. Not much more to say, it works, it is quite stylish, its action is easy, and should last for years.

Easily the best nutcracker I have used.
A brilliant design that hardly damages the inner nut.
But could be be wider at the top to allow for the largest walnuts.
Need to put your hand over the top to prevent the most energetic shell pieces escaping.
If it had been cheaper then we would have definitely bought another one.

I have been cracking nuts for many years and it's always been more of a challenge than it should be- shells being launched, fingers being pinched, nuts never to be enjoyed. This cracker is excellent. It looks great, contains the shells after easily cracking them (have tried almonds, hazelnuts, and walnuts), and is a very sleek and simple design.
