A gift to English-only readers of poetry 12 May 2009
By Joseph Palen - Published on Amazon.com
The unlikely team of a chemical engineer and a professor of journalism comes together to revive some wonderful Chinese poems and bring their beauty before us in English. These short poems are from four different Chinese poets from the Song Dynasty. Many, the ones I like best, describe so well you can feel it, the simple beauty of the Chinese countryside in the midst of simple, good-hearted country folk. The verses seem as natural and the words as well chosen as if it were originally written in English. A good job, and a must addition to the poetry lover's shelf.
