I've been a Driving Instructor for over 21 years, and anything that helps people to learn to drive, gets my thumbs up.
I bought one copy of this with the view to getting more, and recommending it to students, if I liked the way it performed.
I tried it myself and took 5 attempts to complete a left hand turn. Thinking it might be my computer skills, I let my 17 year old son, one of his friends and also one of my students try too.
We all had pretty much the same result.
Sadly I cannot recommend this program. The idea of it is great, it teaches people to use the Mirror, Signal, Manoeuvre routine and the sequences required to complete various tasks, but it is so hard to control the car.
If I gave this to a complete beginner they would be scared of ever trying to drive, it was that hard.
If you wanted to use this as a game or a challenge it would work, but not to improve your driving skills.
Sorry.

My son insisted on getting this as he felt it might help him with his practical, at first he found it fiddley but he soon got the hand of it and treats it like a game, aiming to do better each time, He said it is helping him with observation and other skills.

Having previously used other driver training software I can say that Driving Test Success does produce excellent computer-based training software for the learning driver. I received both the Hazard Perception Test and Practical Simulator DVD-ROMs.
The Practical Driving Test software includes tools such as video tutorials, 'Show Me, Tell Me' tutorials, and virtual driving tests. I found this DVD-ROM useful in some aspects, namely it's tutorials, which provide the novice driver with excellent video lessons covering everything you need to know (ie. controls found on the car, basic manoeuvres, driving in different settings, etc). The 'Show Me, Tell Me' video tutorials provide an excellent means of preparing for the actual test. The virtual driving lessons I found to be most limited in its usefulness; I'm not entirely sure practicing controlling a car using your keyboard and mouse is going to translate into a more competent driver behind the wheel in an actual car. This is going to be difficult bridge to gap for any computer software.
Overall, I would say that this software provides an excellent set of computer-based tools for the learning driver and would absolutely recommend it to anyone preparing for their driving test.
