˃˃˃ Interview with the Author

Q - Why is the London Loves Series so special?

A - Just like you, I love to read steamy romance novels that feature strong women, guys who know what they want, and plenty of sizzling sex.

Overall, each book in the series is designed to give you the perfect balance of romantic tenderness, hot loving, and a thrilling plot to keep you turning the pages.

One very special thing about the series is the inclusion of the gay side-characters Scott and Paul. The series has a great mixture of F/M and M/M romance - and sometimes the sexuality boundaries are pushed to the limits!

Q - Should I read the books in order?

A - Each books works as a standalone novel, meaning you can read them in any order. However, if you’d like to read them in order the sequence is:

- Driving Me to You (FREE steamy romance!)

- Romancing the Real You (Free for a limited time - find out more here > http://bit.ly/Julienews - You can copy the link into your browser)

From panic to published!

I write steamy romances that will make your heart pound hard and your thighs surge with desire!

There was a time, not so long ago, when all I wanted was to stop my heart pounding hard and my mind surging with fear. You see, I suffered with panic attacks. The fear debilitated me on a daily basis, and the feelings of weakness undermined my self-esteem. This 'fear of fear' became so immense that there were times when I was scared to even go outside of my home.

At those times, all I wanted to do was write, because my imaginary world of fiction provided a soothing escape from reality. The strong female characters I created allowed me to pretend everything was okay in my world. And the sexy men in my fictive imagination were protective, loving, and strong.
I've never been someone to give up! Even at my lowest, I knew I could and would recover. Thanks to a great support network, a wonderful self-help book (The Panic Attacks Workbook by David Carbonell), and my own patient determination I experienced my last ever panic attack in January 2013. Then, in April 2014, I proved how strong I'd become by backpacking with a friend in the chaos and heat of India - something that had filled me with dread back when my fear was dominating my every waking breath.

But nothing in this life is ever a waste. During the years when I was suffering from panic attacks, I learnt to write well! I honed my craft, and when I came out the other end, I was ready to self-publish, knowing that if I can cope with panic attacks and survive, then I can become a successful indie author too! My books are the products of this amazing journey that I've been on, and now I can't wait to find out what other delights await me, just around the corner!

Never give up on your dreams, and don't let the setbacks of today ruin your tomorrow! You can do it - just like I did!

I'm not usually a huge reader of romantic fiction I have to admit, but this excellent new book by Julie Farrell has certainly put that trend in reverse gear for me!
I personally feel it has universal appeal with its themes of love, treachery & intrigue - all told in a beautifully-written & well-crafted story that's packed with feel-good humour, creativity, and not-to-mention a few twists & turns along the way on the (sometimes) bumpy road to romance!

An unexpected job opportunity for central character Verlaine as a chauffeur/mechanic in the first chapter sets off a whole sequence of events that builds to an exciting & unexpected double-climax (not wishing to give too much away here). Along the way we get to meet his colourful group of friends, learn some important truths about life, & enjoy the blossoming of his new relationship - which doesn't always go quite as smoothly as the Bentley car that's also central to the plot...

Julie has a unique writing style in my opinion, which really transports the reader to feel we're right there among the action of her finely-drawn characters. We really feel, see & experience everything they do, & Julie creates wonderfully inventive metaphors & word associations which delight the reader at every turn.

It's a very easy book to read, & one that will leave a lasting impression I'm sure. It's a finely-tuned & thoroughly entertaining work of fiction that's in showroom condition, & definitely worth a spin!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Transporting Romance! 17 Oct. 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
A lovely story with believable characters and wonderfully descriptive content. It made me feel as if I were actually in the book itself - I felt both warmed-to (and disgusted and annoyed) by the different characters within.

Sam comes back to England after travelling in India to her late-father's home to find her sister Gemma still resident there, trying to carry on with their father's classic car business. Sam is then transported into an adventure of romance, intrigue and excitement as she falls for the sexy car mechanic her sister has hired... complicated though by her ex-boyfriend Marcus, back on the scene and trying to wheedle his slimy way back in to her life.

This story hits every emotion, goes along at full-throttle, and is easy to read. I loved the comedy, and the timing is perfect - it rocks!!

Already familiar with Julie Farrell's work after enjoying her debut novel very much so I was keen to see where she was going next. Driving Me To You is a clear progression in my opinion.

While the author has again managed to stay true to the romance genre she hasn't been afraid to take it in unusual directions. A lot of authors would have written a novel where the lead character travels abroad in an effort to 'find themselves' - for Driving Me To You, the lead character, Sam, has already tried that without success and the novel begins with her back home wondering what to do next. For me that's a far more original starting point.

Sam is a very likeable heroine whom I was rooting for right from the start. Strong, resourceful, funny - you just want her to succeed and find love. And in Marcus, Sam's ex, the author has created a truly despicable villain where everything is obtainable either at the right price or by force. Without giving away the end, Marcus's and his attitude was dealt with in a most satisfying way!

I think this novel will suit anyone who likes romance plots that have a bit of substance to them. A thoroughly enjoyable read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly recommended 27 Feb. 2014
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Like many people who have written reviews, I have to say that I wouldn't normally opt for a romance novel. However, saying this, it was an excellent read, with a gripping storyline and fresh ideas. The author has a beautiful writing style and a wonderful sense of humour that sparkles from the page.
This book made a 2 hour appointment wait a pleasurable experience. It is one of those books where you simply have to get to the end, but on doing so feel sad as you realise you will have no more instalments to enjoy!
I will definitely read more by this author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Driving Me to You 1 Dec. 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
This heart-warming story is based around only a few characters but trust me when I say with characters this full of life, you don't need many. Sam has just come back from India after being severely ill but it has changed how she views life and she has a lot of ideas on how to share this with others. Verlaine is down on his luck after being out of work for four months and has applied for his dream job - renovating classic cars. Gemma is struggling to keep the business her late father started afloat and has asked (but paying for) the help of an old friend, Marcus. Marcus is Sam's ex-boyfriend but he has decided that he will have her back, after all, who could resist him? And then you have Paul and Scott, a couple that definitely belong together, that complement each other and work well together. The one you don't hear much of is Jack, Verlaine's flat mate, who seems a bit grumpy but that is understandable as he is worried about where they will live if things don't work out between Verlaine and the boss' sister! So there are the characters, let the story commence.

This story is full of bumps and bends as Sam and Verlaine learn about each other, make friends with each other and the others in the small circle, and let the sparks fly between them. Sam is also trying to find a way of mending her relationship with Gemma, is it really broken beyond repair? The things you find out about Marcus will make your toes curl but I won't say whether that's in a good or bad way.

The thing that I love about Julie Farrell's stories is that although you have the main characters, you also get taken along on the side stories of the other characters. This makes the book simply a delight to read and they are never boring! They are realistic but not depressing.
