Product Description

Product Description

For many years Dan Starkey has been a journalist of some repute - mainly ill. Now he is back with his wife Patricia, and while they try for a baby he is aiming to keep himself out of trouble. Had he not been caught in a rather awkward position when he received a phonecall from Big Davie Kincaird, he might not have decided to return to the village of Groomsport. And had he not drunk too much in order to cover the awkwardness of seeing this friend he hasn't known for twenty-five years, he might not have found himself agreeing to go on honeymoon... in Florida... for three weeks... with Big Davie. What else could possibly go wrong?

Were to start? I have been working my why though the Bateman books over the last few months and each new one seems to be better than the last. Till i got to this (or so i thought), it took a age to get going and was unsure as to why the story had anything to do with with our hero from the other books. But after what seemed like forever BANG! it kicked of and had me hooked till the end. What started as a road trip book turned into a modern westen. Work tell you any more as i will ruin it if i do.

Enjoy.

If you like Bateman, this is perhaps not quite as good as I Predict a Riot or Belfast Confidential, but still worth reading. He is a master of witty story telling.

Hilarious 19 July 2010
Format:Paperback
I love this series of books by Colin Bateman. They're caustically funny, and generally feature the main characters as the mist unlikely of hero's with a range of comical personality flaws. I've laughed at loud at every book I've read and noticed a friend, whom I'd lent a couple to, choking with laughter when reading this one at the beach recently.
