I bought this for a friend who was planning to take a year out to drive around Europe but when I started dipping into it I found it fascinating and read the whole thing in one sitting. Contains essential information for anyone wishing to ensure they comply with overseas driving customs and motoring law.

I wanted to know what I could learn before my first driving trip onto the roads in the EU. I needed to know what preparation work was required for my vehicle and what documentation would I have to take with me. Having previously bought Haynes manuals I was aware of the "Driving Abroad" one written by Robert Davies and supported by the Institute of Advanced Motorists. My opinion? A good buy. Easily explained. "What to do on the road, hazzards to watch for, Rules and regs, Documents to take, car hire, bad weather conditions and what to do in an emergency" The book gives details on driving country by country including outside the EU. Worth the money and covers a lot of what we need to know before taking to the roads abroad.

This book does exactly what the title says. It provides advice for English people "driving abroad". This ranges from general advice on becoming familiar with driving on the other side of the road to specific advice on the road signs and motoring law in individual countries. In fact the majority of the book consists of a concise summary of the unique aspects of driving in a long list of countries, all over the world. This makes the process of finding the information one needs or perhaps familiarising with the rules of the road in a new country very simple indeed.

Overall i thought it was good. Some good hints and tips in there such as speed limits, road signs to look out for and local practices. A good starting point.

Worth It
Not as informative as a book I got with info on driving in the USA, but it is worthwhile.
