I bought this book because we are about to spend a week in the Lake District and I am in the last stages of recovering from a broken ankle. I expected a book combining drives and strolls, but the book simply tells you where to drive to in order to start your walk. There are no suggested driving routes accompanied by a guide to points of interest along the way, simply road directions from (eg) the nearest motorway junction to the place the walk starts. The only addition is a suggested pub or cafe where you might like to eat or drink before or after your walk.
If you are not able to walk far and are looking for a guide to driving routes in the Lake District this book won't help you. Mine will be winging its way back to Amazon in tomorrow's post!

A Very Practical Well-researched Book

This is an excellent little book with clear maps, some nice pics and easy-to-follow route directions. The author obviously knows his Cumbria and includes plenty of background information adding extra interest as you make your way around the county,by car and on foot There's also info on the best pubs and where to eat and drink.
