More About the Author
Ground-breaking alcoholic alchemy from London cocktail supremo Tony Conigliaro
About the Author
Tony Conigliaro has worked with many of the world's top chefs, restaurateurs and food writers, including Heston Blumenthal and Harold McGee. He won the award for International Bartender of the Year 2009, as well as the Observer Food Monthly award for Bar of the Year in both 2010 and 2011 (for 69 Colebrooke Row and Zetter Townhouse, respectively). Tony takes the principles of molecular gastronomy and merges them with 200 years' worth of bartending tradition, often blurring the distinction between food and drink. His drinks conjure a full sensual experience that encompasses taste, sight, smell, texture and even sound.

The book is filled with insight into what drives his creative style, and packed with great recipes for some of his cocktails. Each drink is accompanied by a beautiful photograph, which I wasn't expecting. Most cocktail books simply contain endless spec lists!
At the end of the book there is also advice and recipes aimed at those with a laboratory at their disposal, and not really for the casual cocktail enthusiast - but that makes it interesting!
Divided into 17 chapters, the book also covers techniques, recommended equipment, glassware, and how to make those finishing touches such a liqueurs, tinctures and essences. True, you probably wouldn't be able to make every cocktail in the book without buying some seriously hi-tech (and expensive) kit, but there's just the right balance of aspirational and genuinely realistic recipes to keep anyone busy (and seriously impress at your next cocktail party).
A must for any serious cocktail-lover who wants to recreate some of Tony's magic at home.
