Finally a page turner 6 Jun 2005
By Annie - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
After reading many disappointing books lately I figured I would give Drifting a chance since I enjoyed Windmill so much and I was not let down.

Drifting tells the story of Claire and Eli who are Inn owners in Drifting, Connecticut. Early one morning a stranger with a blind daughter comes knocking on the Inns door looking for a room for a few days. Even though it was out of season, Claire lets him stay. While he is checking in, his blind daughter, Kayla, wanders away from the car. Eli and Claire search for the girl but it is Claire who finds her. An instant bond in formed between Kayla and Claire. Nick, Kaylas father explained that he is on vacation and has custody of Kayla and the mother is out of the picture because she wanted to send Kayly away to a school for the blind.

Once this story gets moving, and the mysterious truth about Nick and Kayla come out, you will not want to put this book down.

With an underlying story about Claires mother abandoning her at the age of two, Drifting delves into mother-daughter and father-daughter relationships that is sure to capture your heart.

author's best yet!!! 2 April 2004
By mamareadssomuch - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
Claire is a shrink and her husband, Eli, is a vet. They run an inn in a place called Drifting; their children have left the nest. Claire's mother left her when she was 2yrs old and she obviously has never come to turns with this seperation. She grew up with her father, Jack.

A father and his blind daughter, Kayla, arrive at the Inn and there begins the well crafted story. It was quite rivetting in parts and I found it really hard to put down! There are really two stories going on at once and the title means so much. It was abit unsettling at the close of the book so I had to start something lighter.

Excellent read!

Fabulous Read 6 Jun 2004
By Beverly J. Scott - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
This exciting new author has penned a riveting narrative about how difficult it is to spot child abuse and abusers. Claire and Eli Cherney own the inn in Drifting. It is off season when the child and her father arrive. Although Claire senses a need in the child, it is sometime before she comes to agree with Eli that there is something not right about the father. Gertler's novel explores the delicate situation between mothers and daughters and how some ties never are severed. "Drifting" is not what happens when you open the pages of this haunting tale.
Beverly J Scott author of Righteous Revenge, Ruth Fever and Jena's Choice.
