Dremel 4000 - The Most Powerful and Precise Multi Tool

Dremel 4000 - The most powerful and precise multi tool

Dremel, the inventor of the premium-quality high speed rotary tool system, presents the Dremel 4000 for maximum all-round performance.

There are two kits available, the first being the 4000-1/45. The Dremel 4000 multi tool is the top of the range offering--perfect for even the most demanding craftsman.

The Dremel 4000 high speed motor enables DIY and hobby jobs to be completed with ease, with help from the 45 included accessories. This first-rate tool can carve, engrave, rout, grind, sharpen, clean, polish, cut, sand to name but a few.

Ultimate Power Gets Work Done Quicker

The innovative electronic feedback feature on the Dremel 4000 means that the tool always delivers maximum force even when the job gets tougher. This is helpful when cutting hard materials as the motor will not stall and will continue to make a clean cut.

The power can be controlled by the fully variable speed dial which accurately shows what speed the tool is running at. The 4000 cuts twice as fast as the previous 400 model.

Also included in this kit, along with the 45 high quality Dremel accessories is the Flex Shaft attachment. This simply screws onto the end of the Dremel tool and is ideal for precise, detailed work or hard to reach places.

The attachment is still compatible with all Dremel accessories, and the comfort grip handpiece allows for complete control when working.

Dremel Patented Technology

The Dremel SpeedClic system is a new innovation which makes changing accessories much easier and quicker. The new mandrel operates by a pull, twist and release mechanism.

This eliminates the problem of potentially losing the tiny screw on the traditional mandrel. The 4000-1/45 kit includes the SpeedClic Starter Kit, with the new mandrel and 2 extra durable cutting wheels.

The SpeedClic range is constantly expanding and currently hosts a range of cutting and grinding wheels, abrasive buffs and polishing cloth wheels.

We took delivery of this 4000 set a few days ago and compared with the other Dremel tools in the range which I have bought over the years I found it very disappointing by comparison

The motor is 175w, the most powerful in the Dremel range as far as I am aware and it is sold as a precision tool for home use only. but it just is not smooth running like the previous designs.

From new the motor has a noticeable lumpiness and bumping that comes from the within motor casing itself and the pitch audibly varies and hunts even when it isn't under load!

Also a plastic thumb wheel is utilised in place of a up/down one touch digital control and this has a really nasty cheap feel to it.

What a let down to find no REALLY precise way of controlling a precision tool. What a pity.

Brush problems causing the erratic speed? Perhaps, but again Dremel have modified the 4000 by removing the inspection holes so now you can no longer change or inspect the brushes yourself so one has to ask is this yet another 'use and throwaway' irreparable and disposable device on the market or do you have to send it back now for brush replacement at no doubt even more cost unlike the models which went before?

The 4000 arrived with a promo DVD, 45 accessories and the flexible shaft (which because of the weight & lack of machine dexterity you will need) in a blue nylon bag, but the choice of accessories supplied was very poor for what they really amounted to and the majority were made up of little circles of sandpaper and the numerous sandpaper tubes which in my opinion were added only to give the impression of value for money.

All in all...this is really very disappointing.

But it has got a two year warranty is just as well.

I got this tool mainly to modify my computer case so have used the Speedclick cutting tools aswell as the grinding stone attachments to file down some metal.

I have no complaints with the tool or the accesories you get with it. My only problem is that one of the speedclick disks broke as i was using it. ( didn't snap a metal ring broke free, i wasn't pressing hard) So perhaps buying an accessorie set would be wise to make sure you can use to tool 100%.

I bought my Dremel for woodcarving, and it's fantastic for doing fine detail work - exactly what I wanted! It's powerful, with good speed controls, and with the optional multi chuck, it's easy doing all the bit-changes that I need to do. The tool itself is a bit on the bulky side, but the flexi shaft that comes with this kit has been a great addition for me because it can be held like a pen, which gives really good control. You just need to find somewhere to hang the tool itself, but you can buy a Dremel workstation, or just use a cupboard handle like I do!

I can see myself using this Dremel for lots more than just wood carving - it will be useful for all sorts of small-scale DIY jobs, although it won't replace the standard-sized power tools, obviously.

There are a couple of little downsides: it's pretty noisy, produces a lot of very fine wood dust, and because it vibrates quite strongly, using it for long periods of time can be uncomfortable, and leaves me with pins and needles for a day or so. Occasional use is no problem though. Also, I do wish there was an on/off switch on the flexi shaft because if you need to turn the tool off quickly (for example when a bit works loose in the multi-chuck, which happens occasionally, no matter how tight you make it) then you have to fumble for the switch on the tool itself, by which time the bit has usually shot across the room like a bullet - a bit unsafe really, although this might not happen if you don't go for the multi-chuck option.
All in all, a great tool, despite these small niggles, and I'd definitely recommend it!

I bought this to replace a dremel multipro 285 which burnt out in use (probably over use!). This is a much better piece of equipment. I use my Dremel hand held, for wood carving like a mini router, often for half an hour at a time without switching it off. Unlike my previous model this one does not make my fingers go to sleep and tingle.

There is not much left to say about the Dremel it is pretty much the standard that other similar rotary tools are measured against. That being said as a newcomer to the world of small rotary hand tools i would have liked a more detailed handbook or product guide as it was i had to go onto the internet mostly YouTube to find how-to guides, but as in most things practise makes you wonder why you bothered in the first place,i have now got to an acceptable level of competence,at least for me.The one really downer is how quickly the little sanding and polishing tools wear out,but there are companies selling compatible replacements on Amazon for less than Dremel need i say more,In conclusion the Dremel 4000 rotary tool kit will give you hours of fun and if like me you had a metal stud that i could not get at with a hacksaw out came the Dremel flexidrive and the jobs a goodun...

    This is my second dremel, and third small power tool. Using this tool I have been able to;
    * drill tiny holes to let me bind my husband's thesis
    * sand leather for lacunose inlays,
    * cut slots in boards to reattach them to the text block
    * drill boards for coptic sewing
    * remove fencing wire which wrapped itself around the blades of my ride on mower.
    * Allow my husband to remove corrosion from the frame of his motorbike
    * Roughly sharpen some hand tools
So, for me it's a bindery tool, there's nothing I couldn't do in another way but it is quicker and easier to use my dremel. BUT there is a caveat. Dremel Multi Chuck
Get a multi - sized chuck, if you want ease of use, all that tedious mucking about with the tiny collets to make individual attachments fit well is very boring. The chuck solves all that quickly and easily.
