Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

Dreamweaver 3 is a leading Web authoring tool for both Windows and Macintosh. This book covers both, and in around 500 fully illustrated pages provides an accessible and informative guide.

The style of the book follows a consistent format. For each topic, there are step-by-step instructions along with well-captioned screen illustrations. Tips are shown at the end of each topic. Tinted panels show content that does not fit the step-by-step format, such as reference or background information. This task-based approach makes the book a handy reference if you have a question such as, "how do I set up a rollover image?". No previous knowledge is assumed, and the book is aimed at beginners or intermediate users.

This is a hands-on tutorial and you will be creating simple Web pages right from the beginning. There is a brief guide to HTML coding, but most of the book is about using Dreamweaver's visual tools. The early chapters on the basics, such as text formatting, images, links, tables and frames. Later chapters cover Cascading Style Sheets, positioning with layers, using JavaScript behaviours, and creating animated effects with Dreamweaver Timelines. With clear explanations and attractive layout, this title provides all you need to know to get started with Dreamweaver. It does not provide the depth of a book like Dreamweaver 3 Bible, but on the other hand it is easier to read and more manageable to hold. Dreamweaver's own manual is good but terse, and this Visual Quickstart Guide provides an excellent companion for those who want to get up to speed quickly. --Tim Anderson

Product Description

WYSIWYG doesn't always translate as "simple," as many Dreamweaver users have discovered. Dreamweaver 3 for Windows and Macintosh: Visual QuickStart Guide takes this sophisticated site design and management tool and breaks it down topic by topic into easy-to-follow, visually rich sets of instructions.

This edition of the bestselling guide includes new and reorganized chapters that focus on site management, the HTML Styles palette and Quick Tag Editor, and customizing and automating Dreamweaver. What hasn't changed is the patented Visual QuickStart approach: clear, step-by-step directions and plenty of screen shots, plus an easy-to-navigate tabbed format that lets you page straight to the subject you want. Whether you're new to Dreamweaver or moving up from the previous version, you'll be creating sophisticated and sound Web sites in no time.

Pound for pound, this is definately the most comprehensive Dreamweaver3 guide out there to buy at a price that's not going to break the bank. Used as either a step by step guide or as a reference, it's clearly layed out pages and extremely useful tips are all written in plain English which is a definate bonus for non techi's.

Definately the book to buy.

Never using Dreamweaver before I found the book not only full of information but information that was user friendly. The text is not too technical making the process a easy step by step guide to achieving results. Offers plenty of ideas, helpful hints and good advice, a book you can keep going back to time and time again. I created my first website from using this book with no previous experience.

This book (even though I have just started it) is easy to follow, it covers everything you need to build a website. I recommend it fully. For the United Kingdom Readers the Dreamweaver 4 is finding its way to the shops in March 2001...make sure you buy it!
