Having listened to my husband's frustration with getting round the new Dreamweaver, I ordered this book & he is absolutely delighted so far. It's a powerful programme & this book should help to explain how to use it.

I bought this book as a companion reference book to the Adobe Dreamweaver CC Classroom in a Book which I have just worked through. This Dummies book has a comprehensive index at the back and is therefore useful for checking some detail that you may have forgotten. Being printed on semi-gloss paper, the colour illustrations are superlative. The author herself writes "You don't have to read through this book cover to cover ... [it is] a quick study guide and a reference you can return to", and she has got this exactly right.

As a beginner to Dreamweaver, I do not think I could have learnt Dreamweaver from this book alone, nor do I think the author intended this. However, having finished and set aside my Classroom in a Book, I have been referring to this book and the Adobe web site every time I need to check some detailed point.

Highly recommended.

Almost there, even for a dummy. I think that my problems lie more with the structure of Adobe's program than this manual.

If you are a complete beginner, I would imagine learning Dreamweaver CC could be a fairly daunting prospect. You really would not have a clue where to start.

The majority of the web design industry seems to have the hump with Adobe since it switched from the "buy-our-software" model to the new "rent-our-software" scheme. I don't know if this is the reason but if you search YouTube for Dreamweaver CC tutorials there are very few indeed. Compare this to the older Dreamweaver CS6, their last DVD-ROM-in-a-box release. There are scores of tutorials for that.

In fact, the only video available for a while was one promoting this Dummies book. Consequently, lacking any other cheap means of learning the software I bought the Kindle version.

I should declare an interest, I am quite a fan of the Dummies series. This must be about my 10th purchase, including books about previous versions of Dreamweaver. I am writing this short review therefore from the perspective of somebody who wanted detailed instructions on anything which is new or has changed from the last version. I am not wet behind the ears with Dreamweaver.

With a fair bit of searching, in the last 3 weeks or so, I have successfully managed to find all the information I need. The explanations were fairly clear to me but, as mentioned, I am not a beginner.

My main criticism is that the assumption is made that every reader is a total novice. It would have been nice to have a short chapter for designers who know previous versions inside out. People who just want to know where the old buttons and favourite tools are located in the new version.
