Product Description

From the Back Cover

With the release of Adobe Creative Suite CS5, Dreamweaver solidifies its role as the de facto tool of choice for anyone designing for the Web. Adobe Dreamweaver CS5 for Windows and Macintosh: Visual QuickStart Guide uses a combination of task-based instruction and strong visuals to teach beginning and intermediate users how to create, design, and publish powerful, innovative Web sites with Dreamweaver. Leading technology authors Tom Negrino and Dori Smith take you step-by-step through the new features in Adobe Dreamweaver CS5, with completely revised chapters on critical tools like styling pages with CSS and adding user interactivity with JavaScript dynamic elements. You'll also learn to take advantage of Dreamweaver's new ability to build and modify sites that use popular content management systems, such as WordPress, Joomla!, and Drupal. If you're new to Dreamweaer and web design, you'll learn to create your first Web site, add text, style and lay out page content, manage styles, work with links, incorporate images, media, tables, forms, and frames, design site navigation, and so much more. If you're an experienced user, you'll find this a convenient reference to the new features of Dreamweaver CS5.

I so want to build my own website. I am a small business and I am bombarded by web designers. Problem is they won't build what I want, when I want or allow me to update my own site. Best option, use an on-site web site provider, Not so easy as they are basic and boring. I want adventurous. Next idea get Visual Quickstart Guide Dreamweaver CS5. Now I am not a computer geek but I do know my way around a MAC and PC and pretty good at Lightroom, Aperture and Photoshop, but this book is like reading a foreign language. I just want easy steps to produce a website - I dont want to know too much about html and really just a quick start website builder for a beginner would be good for me. This book isn't the answer. It assumes you know stuff. Its Quickstart but how can it be with over 500 pages. I have now resolved my dilemma. Bought on-line DSimonSezit.com a fast and very easy way to build by website. More expensive but far easier to use!!

I picked up a variety of CS5 books, and have yet to find the silver bullet that will put me in the driver's seat. This book was close. It has a lot of great explanations and examples. I'm glad I own it. It's a good reference piece.

QUICKSTARTS are the best 12 Jan 2012

Every time I miss a few versions of software updates, I like to finally "catch-up" with all the new features. I found myself going back to my tried and true QuickStart Guides when I upgraded to CS5.5. They're comprehensive, concise and easy to find your way around in. I'm always working, so when I have a question that needs to be answered NOW, I just find it in the index, read that section quickly and I'm up and running. I also purchased InDesign as well and if I had lots of money, would have purchased all the books to cover the entire CS5 suite. There's lots of "How-To" software books but I just like these the best!

Priceless Dreamweaver desk reference 18 Dec 2011
By Amazon Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
Took this book with me to an advanced Dreamweaver class, and it was an instant indispensable aid in understanding the intricacies of the assignments. Great to have handy if you're trying to develop or update on the fly - topics are easy to look up, simply explained, and the cross references save boatloads of time. This is the book to buy if you need an excellent reference resource and don't want a shelf full of Dreamweaver books.
