Back warmer 3 Aug 2010
As someone who has intermittent back pain & used wheatbags for warmth in the past, I was lent an electric pad.(Not a Dreamland). Dreamland was a name I knew as I use their electric blankets.I have been very happy with my choice & saves me constantly using the microwave oven to heat the wheat bag which seemed to cool down quickly. The size also enables me to position the pad higher or lower on the back. As an 80+ person I have found this an excellent product.

I suffer from M.E. and as such have chronic back pain.

For years I've used a heat pad to ease that pain.

I started off with a fairly cheap one that decided to melt its own plastic cover, which wasn't good.

The next type I purchased was one with heat wiring through material, instead of plastic. That one was good, except for the build quality, which made for a flimsy connection between the cable and the pad.

This particular one was ordered to replace the one that broke. I didn't really have a lot of time to spend researching the best alternative, but so far this one seems to be doing ok!

It's the plastic cover type again, which had me a little worried, but we'll just have to see how it goes.

The heat can be a little unpredictable at times. When you turn it on it can take a while to heat up, and it doesn't seem to stay at the same temperature. Sometimes it's nice and hot, others it's luke-warm. If you leave it on for long enough then it tends to even out.

It turns itself off after 90 minutes, as standard, but to continue using it you only have to turn it off and back on again. This does interrupt the steady heat, but given a few minutes it does return to what it was at before.

All in all a good replacement pad. We'll just have to wait and see if it lasts better than the ones I've had in the past.

A heating pad is supposed to heat. This is merely warm. I have had heating pads previously that cranked out some soothing heat. This one is anemic and does not provide comfort. I recommend that buyers pay attention to the wattage rating of any heating pad that thay purchase. More watts = more heat.

Heat Pad
Very handy. Makes a good replacement for a hot water bottle. At least you don't have to keep filling it up with water.
Also good for aching muscles.
