Since Caitlin started to go out with Rogerson Biscoe, she has so hardly fallen in love with him. Being with him is like falling into a dreamland where nothing is real. She forgets about everything- even about standing in the second-rate shadow of her. Cass causes the biggest family trouble, she runs away with her boyfriend and leaves her close-mouthed mother alone with Caitlin. But Caitlin is fascinated by Rogerson's lifestyle and that she could be herself with him. But what happens if being with him is a big problem and Rogerson becomes a stranger to her?
As much as I love this book, there were also tears and doubts in my mind. It is fascinating how the author, Sarah Dessen (New York Times Best-Selling Author), comes up with teenage feelings. It is just lovely written, with so many wonderful little details about characters and feelings and thought-provoking because of all the terrible problems, the main character, Caitlin, has to go through. In this super book there are feelings of every kind you can imagine: love, hate, jealousy, and every problem a teenager can have with alcohol, drugs, caused by lovesickness and family problems.
The author, Sarah Dessen, has here created a riveting story and the writing is skillful. This work of literature goes far beyond the normal teenage problems and shows the readers with dreads and humor, with wonderful characters and the plights of them.
If I get the point of the story right, then I would say, Dessen wants to caution us against big feelings and falling in a dreamland by reason of one person. We don't have to close our eyes from everything else when we are in love with someone.
I would give this book five out of five stars because it is a wonderful written story, it is really easy to read and understand and you have to think about it. It isn't just a non-sense book with humor in it, it's more! This book touches your soul with all the challenges, thoughts, facts, dreams and love in it. Everyone, who once was a teenager, can really feel with Caitlin and that's what makes the book outstanding.
To put everything in a nutshell, this book is really worth reading it!
