5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful arrangements!!! 17 Aug 2000
By Merritt Andrews - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
This is one of the nicest sounding big band CDs I own. I purchased it for the wonderful arrangement of "It Might As Well Be Spring" from the movie "State Fair". I had heard it on my car radio on an AM station, in March, shortly after it was released. But I love every song on this CD! And believe me, they sound much better coming from my stereo CD player than on AM radio!

4.0 out of 5 stars Still a bit too slow 28 Sep 2001
By George R. Stilwell, Jr. - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
This one suffers from the "just a bit" too slow tempos and the
lack of tempo variation between songs that plagued
"Dream Dancing 2". But it also has the good recorded sound.
The wonderful trombone section is augmented by lovely trombone
solos, I assume by Alan Kaplan. He's a first rate musician.
I wish there was a CD with the better tempos of the second "Miller" CD, but the good sound of the "Dancing" series.
From the first piece, the "second Miller" recording just makes you want to get up and dance. The "Dream Dancing" pieces sound more like 2AM and you're too tired to really dance, but don't want to give it up.

5.0 out of 5 stars This cd is one that Ray as well has his listeners will like 12 July 2002
By Philip Scott - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
This cd demonstrates that age is not a factor in doing a good project. When he did this recording, Ray was almost 80. You can't tell his age based on the performances here. He still knows which buttons to push on his trumpet. I would still like to call Ray "the man with the golden trumpet".
As far as the musicians go, they are the best. Ray only uses the best people and I believe it pays off. His sound is great.
Speaking of the repertoire it was a good one. There were a few songs offered here that I didn't like. but not many. Ray uses for the most part the best known songs. This is also a big plus for his decision making.
There was a reviewer who says the tempos need to be varied and I whole heartdly agree. It seems Ray never has any fast songs on his cds. Most of his songs are either medioum-slow or just plain slow. There should be a good mix of all kinds of tempos. This I believe would keep the listeners attention a lot better.
I would like to recommend this cd to all die hard big band fans. This cd will impress you!

1.0 out of 5 stars How lame is this??? 28 Nov 2003
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
It's pretty darn lame, and it isn't at all romantic. This cd is one that Ray as well has his listeners will throw up when they hear it. This is so sappy it makes me want to barf, it doesn't swing, and you can't dance to it. it's about as swinging as one of Mitch Miller's sing alo ng sets Skip this omne, it should have never been released
