4.0 out of 5 stars For the serious artist 26 Oct 2007
By Laxon
Format:Paperback
This book covers a great deal to do with landscapes, settings, mood, composition, perspective, and basically how to convay that vision you have in your head, faithfully, in your choosen medium. It is certainaly NOT a how to book for beginners. However even though I have been doodling, scibbling and general all round basic mark making, for a good few years now, in the name of Art; I found this book very usefull.
Yes it covers a lot I already knew from exsperience but, there was still plenty in this book I didn't know or hadn't even concidered yet.

The only reason it does not have 5 stars is that in some parts of the book it gets a little unclear and confusing about what it is trying to convay. ( Nothing beats face to face conduct between artists when discussing art techniques )However it is indeed a very good book.

I will be buying this book very shorty, however, first I need to take this book back to the local library.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantasy Landscapes! 13 Mar 2011
Format:Paperback
A really interesting book filled with fascinating ideas and ways of drawing and painting fantasy landscapes. I enjoyed the whole approach to trying to tap into your imagination through exploring earth and rocks and even mountains through other artists eyes.

If you are an artist who needs a push in the area of fantasy landscapes and more creative ways of bringing that side of your art into the real world then this book is for you.

I certainly enjoyed learning to draw fantasy and cityscapes through reading this book...
