Much as the cover suggests this is a book about the Sun and female spirituality ... however, not exclusively so, as this is a book that will be of equal interest to men and all students of the sacred divine.

More than simply a resource of references to ancient cultures that believed in a female Sun this is a book that invites its reader to participate in its mysteries.

From a journey through the historical roots of Sun Goddesses to the practical application of solar worship this is a book that covers a great deal of ground in an interesting and engaging way.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and appreciated the alternative perspective that it so openly offers on various strands of magick and the occult arts.

Good look at bringing the goddesses into our lives 9 May 2014
By BookLover - Published on
Format: Paperback
Drawing Down the Sun: Rekindle the Magick of the Solar Goddesses by Stephanie Woodfield gives us a look at the role sun goddesses played in the past and the role they can have in our lives today.

This book is broken up into three parts. In part one, “The Sun and the Divine Feminine” we are shown how some of the Sun Goddesses went from being feminine to our now currently held belief that the sun is exclusively masculine. We are also shown attributes that are attributed to the Sun Goddesses. In part two, “The Sun Goddesses” we are shown fourteen different goddesses from around the world and given an invocation for each along with spells and incense to use for that goddess. In part three, “Modern Sun Worship” we are given ways to connect with the solar feminine and how to bring her into our daily lives. In the two appendix we are given some solar gems, stones, and also some solar herbs.

Overall, I thought this book was a great look at the solar goddesses. I do wish that more goddesses had been covered though. I thoroughly enjoyed part three on bringing the sun goddesses into our lives. I would recommend this book to those who wish to look at the solar goddesses and bring the goddesses into their life.

I acknowledge that I received this book from Llewellyn Worldwide in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion of the book.

Wonderful resource 21 Jun. 2014
By Saleana (Triquetra Reviews) - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
Happy Litha/ Summer Solstice/Whatever you Call it to all my fellow Wiccans, Pagans, Witches and so on and so forth! Brightest Blessings to you and yours on this wonderful day! Go out and enjoy the sun!!

Thanks to Llewellyn Publishing for allowing me to read this copy in exchange for an honest review.

I have to admit I'm hugely impressed. When I first saw this book I was struck. I had always, like so many others, linked Goddess with Lunar energies and God with Solar energies. This book allows you to tap into the solar energies and link them with the ultimate divine feminine energy that I refer to as Goddess.

I was a bit nervous, thinking that I was going to have to read about and learn a whole new set of correspondences, but interestingly enough a lot of the correspondence stands. Mirrors for instance are linked with solar goddesses and I've used them during lunar feminine rites and rituals. I find it amazing how I never thought to shift corresponding objects with the Goddess to Solar or Lunar. I believe this is just one way to show that the God and Goddess are in everything and nothing at once. They are light and dark, neither more right or wrong than the other.

This book is wonderful for those of you who would like to utilize the Sun and the Sun's energies with the loving touch of the Goddess. Be mindful that the Goddess can too be a warrior. Gendered sterotypes don't apply to the God and Goddess in my experience, but the need to link feminine with Lunar energies has made us forget that more fiery aspect of Her.

This book is chock full of correspondences, meditations, lore and myths, ritual ideas and great information overall. I highly recommend it for anyone who wishes to learn more about the Goddess' solar energies and this book makes it easy to jump right in to start honoring Her!

5 triquetras for this wonderful book.
I recommend this for Pagans and non-Pagans alike. Even thought this has ritual ideas in it, it's not necessary to complete them. This isn't a spell book, but rather a take on solar Goddess energy that just happens to have some rituals and things placed throughout. Go grab a copy today!

Solar Goddess get their time in the Sun 19 Aug. 2014

I loved this book.
There are many Solar Goddesses that have captured my heart, mainly
Hathor, Isis & Sekhmet. Celtic Goddess Brigdit also is included as a
Solar Goddess to me.
Yes, most of us think of the Goddess being a Moon Goddess. But
there is power in the Goddess who is connected with the Sun's power.
This book is overdue, and welcomed in my library. I will recommend this
book to students & friends.

Refreshing read, great information! 27 Mar. 2015

I loved the mythology that is shared in this book, as well as the information I learned with all of the sun goddesses. The meditations are beautifully written and I loved all of the rituals that were included. It was so refreshing to pick up a book to learn about the different deities she included. I would love if Ms Woodfield would write a part two.

Refreshing take on the Goddess 7 Dec. 2014

A wonderful collection of mythology and ritual relating to the solar goddesses. The solar feminine isn't an archetype that most modern Pagans think about, so it was a very refreshing read.
