I never had a workmate before, but after using this I dont know why I have,nt made the plunge before. The years of sawing through chairs ,struggling balancing on bricks ,why ??? for this price it not worth the hassle of living with out it.
Its light and easily to use,buy one and make your DIY jobs 300 percent easier and makes you safer when using electric tools .The original is expensive ,and if you like me do DIY occassionally then this is perfect.
Remember its self assembly ,which I didnt expect, but was up and running in 30 minutes and easily understood instructions made the job a pleasure.

For all those lighweight cutting jobs this workbench does the job. I added a small vice & it makes the small jobs alot easier. The bench is quite sturdy & folds away for easy storage. Good value DIY product.

Seriously impressed with this bench. Arrived on time and although self assembly's required, it's a piece of cake, lets be honest if you can't put it together you probably don't need a workbench! Huge saving on some other brands offering a virtually identical product. Having put up with standing on items to keep in place whilst sawing, I can't believe I left it so long before getting a bench, it makes a multitude of DIY jobs SO much easier.

I received this Fold0Down bench today and assembly was fairly straightforward and the finished product seems to be reasonably sturdy. It is well designed with nylock nuts holding the frame together and steel threaded clamp adjustment rods. The instructions stated that all bolts and nuts should be done up tightly but if you do that it will not fold very easily. I eased them back a bit and all was fine.
It will not cope with jobs that it's bigger brothers will do but for its size and price it is a worthwhile investment for the occasional DIY jobs. Much better and safer than using plastic crates etc. when cutting wood. It folds down to a fairly small footprint and with a little ingenuity would probably hang on a garage wall.
I considered the similarly priced Black and Decker WM301 workmate but after reading the reviews on the WM301 decided this was a better buy - I am pleased I did. Because of it's sturdy design I expect it to last many years.

There comes a time in man's life when he suddenly realises that he's got enough tools to open a hardware shop. And yet I was still cutting wood and balancing things on chairs or steps. After buying a jigsaw, I realised that it was finally time to buy a workbench or lose a finger.

I saw this Draper model and it looked very impressive for the price. The reviews were good too. I'm happy to add to those reviews because this is a really sturdy and well-made piece of equipment. Strong and stable enough to support a heavy hardwood external door whilst I planed and sanded it. Can't think why you would want to put anything heavier than that onto it.

It folds neatly and fits neatly in the boot of a car. Probably more useable than it's heavyweight and more expensive brothers in the range. I give it 10 out of ten all round.
