I reckon these are meant to be used to remove screws that aren't too badly stuck, something that you just cant grip. These aren't up to the job of removing anything seized proper.

I purchased these (and some other tools with similar objectives) because I needed to remove some rather corroded bolts holding down the plastic rocker cover of my car. According to the Haynes manual, these bolts should be tightened to way less than the minimum torque I can get with my small torque wrench, so I wasn't really expecting much difficulty in removing them, despite the fact that the hexagonal tops were corroded to nearer round. I drilled the holes of the size and depth detailed in the instructions for these extractors, and I purchased and used the tap wrench recommended by Amazon for this set, but the bolts did not move before the tool itself cracked, leaving the tip in a bolt. In the end I resorted to brute force by grinding a groove in the bolts and smashing them with an impact wrench and screwdriver bit - this was a successful if rather worrying technique to apply in the vicinity of delicate bits of car engine! I suppose these were relatively cheap so it was worth giving it a go, but it was ultimately a waste of money.

Within an hour of arrival I used them on two brake calliper nipples that had been rounded off,the first I used the suggested size, with little force it snapped.
Tried the second with the next size up on the other, same result.

The tool was used correctly, with the right size pre drill and tap holder, and when I say little force I mean just that.

The seller accepted return with no quible, and I would be happy to buy from him again, but Draper tools are far from the quality they once were if this is any bench mark.

I had a screw stripped to hell and back, and this set of extractors saved everything!!!

I drilled a hole through the screw, stuck one of these exctactors in and then turned it left, and of course, it gripped the screw like a
salt water crocodile and turned the screw out damn well, and I must add th escrew was GLUED in there!!!

in the end this set saved the project, i highly reccomend!!!

These just got me out of a pickle, had to buy them locally and paid over the odds, but after a snapped caliper bolt on a sunday (and living in a remote place), I can't speak highly enough of these.

The calipers and the general condition of underneath of my car can be described as 'less than cared for' previously, and as such, a 13mm head bolt that attaches the caliper to the carrier snapped completely flush after a bit of a fight.

After carefully filing what was left of the bolt flat, centre-punching and drilling a small hole (slowly with plenty of oil), I mounted the appropriate sized extractor in a tap wrench, started it off in the hole and kept it as straight + vertical as possible, and voila!, it got the bolt out without too much fight.

These are not the heaviest, most robust looking things, and if the bolts are too far gone, you must be daft if you think a £10 extractor set will magically remove what you want it to. (think more acetylene torch than hobby tools). At all stages I have tried to apply lubricant to help with loosening.

For me, it saved a lot of hassle and potential purchase of a new carrier,(let alone loss of the use of the car for at least a day) if the set i have look worn or damaged in the near future, i wouldn't hesitate to shell out for these again.

It does the job, except for the fact that you need a tap spanner to use the kit, which proved a nightmare to find!

Just not really that good. Doesnt get the screw moving unless its already there to be loosed.
Waste of money. Better off buying a punch and drill down side ways then pliers and brute force.

Just the job for those problem screws, yet to try on badly damaged ones but I'm sure they will work.
