I looked long for a bargain radio with certain features usually found on much more expensive products. Compact and overall performance good , but small loudspeaker is inevitabily a slight drawback as is the lack of a tone control. The radio is sturdy.SW fans will like this radio's ability to input frequencies digitally , the copious memory and aerial socket.I would guess that the manufacturer is Sangean. Super value.

Nicely made little radio. Sound quality more than adequate from its built-in speaker and its very good value for money.
If it was 'badged' by one of the top electronic firms, it would cost 4 times more. The unit also receives STEREO broadcasts via the headphone socket. Only a couple of small annoyances ... the radio loses its memories when replacing batteries - got to store them again.
Also a stereo/mono switch would have been handy for weaker stations in order to cut out background hiss.

Bought this radio as a gift, but tried it out myself, which is lucky as the first one was DOA. A very good digital radio, shame about the gimmicky volume control lights, and would have been nice to run off of 2 AA's instead of the three it actually uses (which I suspect is partly because of the volume level lights). You can whiz through the radio bands as you normally would on a digital radio, or you can enter the frequency directly to jump to which is a brilliant addition. There is a Local/DX switch which is good for cutting the noise levels on difficult FM radio stations, and a lock controls button so no accidental presses. On the back is a piece of plastic you can flip out and use as a stand for the radio, which would slant it to about 45 degrees. Supplied with headphones, but never tried them to hear if they are any good sound quality.

Overall, for the price and build quality, it's better than the fiddly "analogue" radios, that is, if you tune to more than one station then it's worth it.

The first radio I got delivered was dead on arrival, so had to get a replacement, but other than that, I can't fault the radio, or the service from Amazon on the replacement.
