Amazon Verified Purchase
A simple little waterproof torch, with up to three LEDs (as required) giving a blue-white light. The batteries are built-in rechargeable by winding it up on the fold-away handle.
It will shine at maximum brightness for about forty times longer than the winding period, up to at least two hours, but by when it is noticeably dimmer. The claimed intensity is 50,000mcd, which is not really all that bright for a torch, but when you are changing a tyre in the dark, in the rain, it is a godsend, and you can be confident that you will always have enough light to see what you are doing. I used the handle to conveniently prop it up to aim the light at the wheel nuts.
It has two other modes; one LED on, and three LEDs flashing. The winder is quite stiff, and a minute feels like a long time, but there is the re-assurance that the work is not being wasted.
I bought it as a car-specific replacement for when my other (case damaged by dropping!) 3 LED Wind-Up Torch should cease to work. This waterproof 3 LED torch is not quite as bright, even when in three LED mode, but being now proven waterproof in rain and accidentally kicked into a puddle, it is still definitely a good buy.
Also worth considering is the wind-up and USB charge 5 LED Dynamo Torch which is significantly brighter than either of these other two.

I was bought this at christmas. It's a great little thing, plenty bright enough for my purposes (walking dog in the dark)and seems to give plenty of light from not a lot of winding. It has 3 modes...dim, bright, and flashing. I suppose the flashing one is a bit like some people have on their bikes but is a bit annoying if you just want light (so don't select it!). The only real negative is that it's a bluish kind of cold light...but that's true of all LEDs so you just have to accept it. Well worth the small cost.

The reason for buying a wind up torch was to keep it in my car in case of an emergency at night, and not have to worry about the batteries being flat when I needed it. When the torch arrived I was keen to try it out and had no concerns as it was a Draper. To my surprise it was a real disappointment. The torch itself felt well constructed, and the winding mechanism felt solid, but that was where the praise for the torch ended. The beam of light that the Draper's 3 LEDs produced was a weak blue/white colour; certainly not strong enough for any distance work and not particularly good for close up work either. I suppose it would have just about sufficed if you had to change a wheel at night, but it definitely would not be my first choice of torch for the job. I returned the torch and bought the similarly priced Ring Cyba-Lite Generator Wind Up Torch - Black; the difference was literally night and day!

Great lil torch
Probabily a little pricey yeah but overall a great product! Bought this in 2011 and still has the same amount of power! Others I've tried seem to fade a little over time!

Draper 45943 3 LED Waterproof Wind-up Torch (DIY & Tools)
good money wasted on a product that fails to deliver on its promise. the LEDs don't last the advertised 40 minutes after a minute crank; they actually dim out after 3 minutes.

Does what it says
I purchase this item in June 2011, it may be a touch smaller than expected, but works very well. Yes it is recommended by me and i await the darker nights to really test it.
