Draper should stick to making tools!,

Yet another cheap and tatty telescope to catch the unwary consumer, a wobbly mount and flimsy tripod, this will do nothing but bring disappointment, a cheap and nasty telescope only extinguishes the fire of enthusiasm. If you're serious about buying telescopes then look at names like Meade Sky Watcher or Celeston. These companies build proper scopes for serious amateurs.Spend your money wisely, be wary of claims of high magnification intended to catch out the novice. Changing the power of a telescope is as simple as exchanging an eyepiece and all scopes have a maximum useful power which is about half of what it is capable of. Power is not everything, how much light your scope captures is king. My advice would be to save up your money and buy a scope with an objective lens of at least 4 inches. I would particularly recommend the Celestron NexStar 4SE to anybody starting out, though some of Celestrons cheaper telescopes are also equally suitable. Do your homework and read the reviews on the internet before wasting your money. There are some great forums out there that offer free advice to would be stargazers if you take the time to look.

I have a telescope identical to this one , it gives excellent views of the moon and a few nights ago I had excellent view of Jupiter and its Red spot and cloud belts and moons also Uranus which is currently next to Jupiterthis telescope gives good view of Saturn and as the rings begin to open out over the next few years you will get a good view also good for star clusters like m45 pliedes and the Orion nebula use the low power eyepiece first to get the object then change to high power once you have the object ,some nights are better than others for seeing and you can get higher magnification it is worth investing in better quality eyepieces for the telescope and you will see a huge difference despite what some people say , you can actualaly see a lot with a small telescope if you know how to use it

not as bad as I was expecting.,

For a £60 telescope, its hard to fault this. As an intro to sky watching this is a cheap purchase to wet your appetite and see if you really need to invest in a proper piece of kit. Views of the moon are great. Mine had a moon filter with it. (I think the scope was a returned item, but everything in perfect condition, so no problem). Using the 20mm lens I was able to see jupiter and its moons. Add the 3x barlow still good. Now tried the 4mm lens which came with it. Just couldn't get it to locate anything and stay on it. The tripod is too wobbly and the movement too jerky. The finder is difficult to adjust accurately enough for high magnification use. Would have been five stars if it had come with a 10mm lens instead of the 4mm. I think thats about its limit.Again its all about the money. I have learned what I really need and know I'm interested enough to justify spending a lot more. The celeston 130 and the filter/lens kit will be ideal for me. Less than £300 all together. The celeston 114 is £99 and probably the best starter telescope. But I don't think I've wasted my money. For what it does ( with patience it does a lot), its great value.
