5.0 out of 5 stars Great book 6 Jan 2013

If you read the other books in the series, it's great. If not, you should read the others as they are well written and with a great plot.

5.0 out of 5 stars For the well-read and well-versed in history 3 July 2013
By Linda Turner - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
First up - I'm a 57 yr old mom and grandmother who started buying these books from the day "Here There Be Dragons" first hit the shelves. I have read every book in the series and love them all. But there is a caution I'd offer.....while this series is categorized as "Young Adult" and it could be enjoyed by kids and teens, it is really best enjoyed if the reader is very well read and already knows a good bit of literature, history and mythology. The books are populated by a large number of famous authors, famous characters both real and fictional, and figures from mythology. If the reader doesn't know who they all are then he/she will have a difficult time understanding all that is happening. There are so very many references to the authors works, the acts of the characters, the stories in the myths and that would all be lost on someone who hasn't read a great deal, especially of the well-known classics e.g. "Lord of the Rings" "Peter Pan" "Gilgamesh" "Chronicles of Narnia" to name a few. Of course kids will enjoy it just for the dragons, the dragon ships, the time travel, etc. But what a shame not to know "the stories behind the story" as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great penultimate book!! Don't read the editorial review. 25 Sep 2012
By Bob - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
As an avid reader of the Imaginarium Geographica chronicles I must say this book is one of the best. The author, James A. Owen, weaves characters from myths, legends and modern day tales from famous books as well as bringing in famous authors, scientists and well-known men and women such as Poe, Tolkien, Newton and Verne. This book will keep you in suspense from the gripping prologue to the mysterious epilogue.
However, read the 5 previous books in order or it will be hard to understand. The first book's link is Here, There Be Dragons Unfortunately the editorial review gives away an important plot point which removes some of the pleasure of the ending.
I cannot wait for the next book - bring on The First Dragon!

It was my beloved soul mate who chose the first book for me to read. That was almost 5 years ago. I finally picked up the story where it last stopped. It m made me cry, it made me laugh, and it made me cheer for the caretakers, whom I believe to be real.
