What a premise - a civilisation recieves the entire sum of all human knowledge IN ALPHABETICAL ORDER !

Amazing that this book has hardly dated in 20 years.

If you're familiar with astronomy or physics and like your fiction to have a unique quality in plot or concept rather than just be a new variation on familiar themes, this book is for you. A spacecraft from Earth visits a nearby neutron star and finds that on the surface not only life but an advanced civilisation has evolved - and they live a million times faster than us. Definitely one of the great sci-fi classics, great storyline and science consistent and well-explained without too much detail, a must for any sci-fi enthusiast. Absolutely brilliantly imagined.

A true SF novel for the true SF fan!
I love reading all sorts of SF books, even the lighter corny ones with lots of space ships and laser guns, but nothing beats a fictional story based on deep scientific knowledge and tons of imagination.
This book really takes you out of your daily reality and into a totally new realm.
A true masterpiece!
