Templar's brilliant Dragonology books create a set of resources on the wildlife and science of raising or studying dragons to gladden the heart of any would-be student of these magnificent creatures. Dr Ernest Drake gives us all manner of fascinating details on habitats, temperaments and training regimes, which play into that greatest of desires for children (and let's be honest, many adults too) - that dragons might really exist. -- Cecilia Busby Middle Grade Strikes Back
About the Author
Dr. Ernest Drake is said to have lived in St. Leonard’s Forest, Sussex, England, in the late nineteenth century and to have issued a very limited run - some 100 copies - of DRAGONOLOGY in 1895. A noted dragonologist and a founding member of the Secret & Ancient Society of Dragonologists in London, Dr. Ernest Drake was determined to bring the subject of dragons under the burgeoning umbrella of the nineteenth-century natural sciences. He had absolutely no doubt that dragons exist, and his notes suggest that he had no little experience of them. Apparently, only one copy of DRAGONOLOGY ever appeared in public, surfacing in the basement of a secondhand bookstore in London in 1987. The book was accompanied by a letter, dated 1904, addressed to an unnamed apprentice. Dr. Ernest Drake’s painstaking work has been faithfully reproduced in this unique volume. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

This book is a must for any fans of Dragons and the mythology surrounding them, not just for its appearance, but you might want to get over how fantastic it looks before you read it!!
The other thing is that there is a wealth of real stuff tucked away in the fantasy text. Darwin is in there, together with some history, a bit of runic alphabet, and some chemistry - beware if your child starts looking around for iron pyrites and flints! so you can kid yourself that it's sort of educational too.
