Book Description

24 April 2014 Dragon Ball Full Color (Book 2)
Goku is dead - but his journey is just beginning. Now he must travel through the afterlife along the million-kilometre Serpent Road to find Kaiô-sama, the Lord of Worlds, who will teach him martial arts techniques so powerful they're reserved for the gods! And he'd better hurry, too, because Earth has only nine months until the evil Saiyans, Vegeta and Nappa, arrive to wipe the planet clean of life. While the archdemon Piccolo trains Goku's son, Gohan, to reach his full power potential, the alien spaceships rocket ever closer...bearing a power so awesome that even Earth's six strongest heroes may not be a match for it!

4.0 out of 5 stars The "Hamlet" Volume 6 May 2014
Format:Paperback
The Saiyans arrive and our team joins together to battle them. The whole volume concerns this one theme and we may as well call this the "Hamlet" volume as practically everybody dies. (But death is not always death as we know it in Dragon Ball) As the book ends the fight is not yet over ...

This Full Colour edition is fantastic read with its bright colours and magazine sized pages. A quality edition and I loooove the large panels!

Format:Paperback
This volume consists of 241 pages that follow Piccolo, Yamucha, Chaozu, Tenshinhan, Gohan and Goku against the two villain Saiyans (Nappa & Vegeta), so in terms of story for those that know it there's really not much that needs to be said, although, I have to admit that the manga version is a lot better than the anime for sure (while listening to Kikuchi's original Z music too).

What I didn't like were the translated terms they used here and there such as "Lord of the Worlds" when referring to Kaio-sama and "God of Earth" is Kami-sama, I mean it's good to throw it out there but it's just unnecessary and takes up space for no good reason and "Chi" which should be Ki instead. Well, I suppose for the newcomers this is useful to know so there's at least some use for it (except the "Chi" one).

The final part of the Saiyan arc comes out in June (19) so don't miss it out.

We're yet to know if Viz will release the other arcs too, so fingers crossed they do because this deserves to have a complete English release for all to read it!

By the way, I wish Steve Simmons (FUNimation's Dragon Ball translator) was the one taking care of this too but this translation is still pretty good too, I s'pose.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Dragonball Z Release Worthy of Praise 2 April 2014
By Thomas L - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This is another high quality release of the Dragonball Z manga in a format we haven't gotten before in the United States. Of course, this a refreshing change from the variety of repackaged editions marketed as "unedited" by Viz in an attempt to get us to reach into our wallets. Understandably, some of you are probably hesitant to buy this edition for a variety of reasons. However, I should let you know that those concerns are, for the most part, unfounded.

Having just received this in the mail today, it's true that I haven't examined every panel with a magnifying glass to identify every minuscule imperfection. Were I do to so, I doubt I would find any regardless. The presentation of this release is great, and the colors are stunning. No matter how many times you've read the manga in its original form, you'll feel like a kid experiencing it for the first time.

I highly recommend this volume and the one before it as an addition to your manga library. These releases are of the utmost quality and deserve high praise for the crisp coloring and (mostly) true translation from the original source.
