Book Description

17 Feb 2011 Midnight Bay
William Killkenny finally broke the curse place on him by a medieval witch by opening his heart in Moonlight Warrior. Now, the sexy, ninth-century Irish warrior finds himself facing a new challenge in the twenty-first century--wooing the beautiful, outspoken, and provocative Madeline Kimble. Maddy wants nothing to do with the arrogant lout, but when William proves to be her knight in shining armor by helping with her rebellious teenage brother and nine-year-old daughter, Maddy has to reconsider. Something unsettles her, though, as William becomes involved in strange happenings in Midnight Bay. Can William prove he's not responsible and get Maddy to trust his love?

Dragon Warrior (Midnight Bay)

It's the first book I've read from the series. I loved it. It's fast-paced with interesting plot, as well as humorous and touching. The characters' interaction and dialogues hooked me from the first pages and I didn't put the book down until I finished it. I'll definitely read the rest of the series' books.

The way the author has managed to combine the fantasy of this story with the underlieing message that older people are our most valueble assets in society really touched my heart and I shed a few tears aswell, well done Janet Chapman. The jumping of William's bones also had me laughing my head off.Really enjoying this series can't wait for the next one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dragon Warrior Book 25 Sep 2012
Format:Mass Market Paperback|Verified Purchase
This is one of three in the series of books.
I recieved the last one before this one, and had read the the last one but am still reading this book and it is absorbing as the others were. I had read the 'Highlander books' first. as you should also do. Then the carry on story is the three Warrior books by Janet Chapman, all are good reads.
Seller has been very nice and I am pleased with the transaction and will be back again to see what I can next get to grips with.
Many thanks for all the help in this sale and will be back soon

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent 5 July 2011
Format:Mass Market Paperback
this book is the second in the trilogy but having not read the first book doesnt really affect the story. great chemistry between maddy and william eventhough it doesnt start out as love. while william is trying to win maddy over the magical residents of midnight bay have another problem to face, they have a wizard making trouble for them. the interactions between everybody in town and Mac the mysterious wizard is hilarious i hope he comes back in the next book. gutted that at the moment it looks like this is only gonna be a trilogy of books as i love the concept.

5.0 out of 5 stars whimsical romantic fantasy 26 Jan 2011
By Harriet Klausner - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
For twelve centuries William Killkenny was a dragon. However, recently he regained what he thought was lost forever; he has become human again (see Moonlight Warrior).

In Maine, single mom River Run Nursing Home Nurse Maddy Kimble raises her troubled younger brother and her nine years old daughter Sarah. William likes Maddy but she rejects his efforts for them to date as she considers him uncouth after he threatened to spank her and he was naked when he kissed her in front of the town. Desperate and out of the human dating business for twelve hundred years, William asks her elderly patients for advice. Maddy watches in amazement as the arrogant beast acts so gentle and caring towards her patients and daughter. However, having one bad marriage already Maddy has major doubts about a courtship especially with a hunk concealing who knows what from her; especially one born in 1047. William believes his time as a beast cost him his heart though he risks his new found mortality protecting Maddy from a magical attack.

The latest Midnight Bay romantic fantasy continues the whimsical saga with a delightful tale as William the grouch dragon has become William the desperate human. Readers will appreciate this humorous yet poignant thriller as the former grumpy soul warrior woos the reluctant damsel in distress (initially from family problems until the magic attack) while he obtains illegal citizenship papers including an authenticate birth certificate dated 1977.

2.0 out of 5 stars Unfortunate disappointment 3 Feb 2011
By True Jennifer - Published on Amazon.com

I was really anticipating this book after reading Moonlight Warrior. Maddy and William are the subject of this book and I was interested in seeing their story unfold since first encountering them in the first book. Unfortunately, their story kind of fizzled. the characters seem one dimensional where in Moonlight Warrior they seemed complex and interesting. The two had no chemistry and I really didn't care what happened between them. I expected these two to be toe to toe with one another, bantering, arguing, and generally facing off. Especially with how they encountered each other at the end of the first book. Even Maddie's issues with her first husband came across very weakly in this book. I just didn't feel anything toward any of these characters.
I did like the use of the older characters that Maddie works with. They were cute and a pleasant addition only I don't think they were used to their best. And characters like Eve mother who was so important to William in book 1 was fairly nonexistent in this book!
Maybe I was expecting too much but I was really disappointed. I will read the next book hoping for redemption since I loved Moonlight Warrior so much.

5.0 out of 5 stars True fairytale! 26 Jan 2011
By Ingrid Moore Curry - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I am an avid romance novel reader and Janet Chapman is one of my favorites. While there nothing new under the sun where romance novels are concerned -- Ms. Chapmans weaves a tale with Dragon Warrior that allows you to escape into a world full of magic and romance! I have NEVER been disappointed when I read a Janet Chapman book and it you love fantastical stories then this book is a it. This is how a fairytale should read!

1 caution... If you have never read any of Ms Chapman's work I suggest reading the original highlander book Charming a Highlander, then Winter's story in Only a Highlander, followed by Moonlight Warrior, with Dragon Warrior last. This way you get all the background info carried into this book.

Dragon Warrior is book two in a spin-off from the Highlader Series.

Dragon Warrior is a great read all by itself, but just like any good entre -- each side is tasty alone but the combination is what makes the meal satisfying. Enjoy!

Dragon Warrior by Janet Chapman
Paranormal Romance - Jan. 25th, 2011
4 stars

Dragon Warrior is an entertaining and playful romance with gobs of fascinating characters. I can't wait to read more books from this wonderful author! Although this is part of a series, it can be easily read by itself.

Maddy Kimble has a good life even if it is a busy and overworked one. With a young daughter, a full time job, and a troublesome ex-husband, she doesn't have time, let alone any energy for romance! But little does Maddy realize that she has caught the eye of a handsome Irish nobleman, named William Killkenny.

William is actually from the ninth century and was cursed as a dragon. As a dragon he watched Maddy and promised himself if his curse could be broken, he would pursue her. William is now human but to his dismay Maddy thinks he is crazy! He soon realizes that courting a woman in the ninth century is far different from the current time period! Soon he enlists help from the elderly people whom Maddy takes care of at a local nursing home. And as they take him in hand, Maddy is stunned by the handsome `new' William. And it doesn't hurt that William is intent on lightening Maddy's burden and likes her daughter.

Is this sudden romance too good to be true or is there something `off' about William as Maddy first suspected?

This book is hilarious with wacky characters such as a mermaid with attitude and a time traveling hero which makes this book so fun to read. Maddy is super easy to relate to. She is struggling to keep things together but is so soft hearted and caring that she overworks herself. William sees how much Maddy needs help even if she doesn't ask for it. I loved how determined he is to take some of the weight off her shoulders. But the best sections of this story are when the gruff and untamed William has his makeover by the well-meaning elderly at the nursing home. It is funny to read how Maddy reacts to this `improved' William and appreciates him all the more.

Lighthearted and entertaining, this book will make you smile. I loved the cast in this story and can't wait to read MORE, please!
