DRAGON QUEST SWORDS: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors, available exclusively on Wii, is an action-packed Virtual Experience where the player becomes the hero of the story. As the hero, the player must use the Wii controller to control their legendary sword, and fight off horde after horde of monsters. Slice at enemies, parry with your shield and block attacks to launch powerful counter-combos!
In the town at the foot of Avalonia Castle, a young man enjoys a peaceful life with his father. That young man is you. It is your sixteenth birthday at last, and time to take the Walk of the Worthy, the trial of strength which all young Avalonian males must undergo upon coming of age.
You will need to put all of your training in the ways of the sword into practice if you are to pass the test, and take your rightful place amongst Avalonia's warriors. Should you succeed - who knows what adventures await you!

It feels like a game which attempted to take advantage of Wii controls, and in doing so the production time went past and they had to release it. It's very shallow.
The game itself works. The game is on rail and story advances linearly, with monsters popping up here and there. Slashing is fun and especially if you like the world of Dragon Quest and its monsters, you will likely cry in joy seeing the monsters move around with vigor. There is something beautiful about that. The world also feels cosy and being in the middle of it is enjoyable.
The trouble is, that's where it stops. It's too much of an arcade game considering it's Dragon Quest.
It being a "Dragon Quest" franchise might draw you in, but it lacks depth, so don't expect too much. I think very young kids might enjoy it as the slashing in battles is fun and Wii remove is very functional, but that alone doesn't have enough appeal to hold you for long enough if you are a mature player. Also the game is pretty short - I spent only around 9 to 10 hours completing it.
Overall, I'm giving this 4 stars because I've read a lot about what devs went through to invent this for Wii and how much effort they made to program it. It is a good arcade game in its own right and it does what it says on the tin. It's just a shame that they ruthlessly slapped the "dragon quest" brand on it. Not only it's misleading, it dilutes the prestigious "Dragon Quest" brand. If I didn't know about the development process, I would likely have given it 3 stars, so bear that in mind - I'm rating this in context.
The battle engine is good, so I'm hoping that they will keep it and reuse the code to make a more full scale adventure game with deep story. Nice try devs, try again!

Plot: Not really a plot that makes you want to keep playing to find out what comes next but still not terrible enough that it's not worth playing. I think the story would of been fine it they had of just made the characters a bit more likeable.
Graphics: Basic. Looks a bit like a DS game but I don't really think great graphics are needed to play this.
Sound: Not much to say on this other then sometimes when you kill something the things your companion says does get a bit annoying after they have said that same comment for the past 10 times.
Controls: For me what gave this game a decent amount of stars were the controls. Basic but fun none the less. They show you everything the Wii remote has to offer although I would have liked to of seen the nunchuk used for the moving of the character rather then the arrows on the Wii controller as this sometimes made it a bit awkward to move.
Overall: Nothing amazing but still worth playing. It has enough to make you want to play it but could still do with a couple of things having a bit more depth.

Got this game because it looked promising and it was a laugh for about 5 minutes..... (and I have good reason for such a low mark)
Game Play:
fun at first but its the same thing for each battle, timed precision strikes and shield blocking (although I was a big fan of the shield). the wii mote response was dreadful, it messed up 3/5 times for me so battles soon became a repeated frustration. the enemies were way too easy, walking around looked dreadful like it has a half hearted attempt by the developers.
Sound/Music:
Just dreadful, we can leave it there

Wii fun
This is one of my first Wii games. I love the hack'n'slash nature of it, it uses the Wii remote to full advantage.

FIRST PERSON?!
I always thought that you couldn't mess up Dragon Quest and i loved jouney of the cursed king but some how they made it terrible i think it's because it's in 1st person
