Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

Dragon NaturallySpeaking 11 Premium speech recognition software gives you complete voice control of your digital world. With Dragon as your personal assistant, you’ll accomplish more on your PC than you ever imagined possible — three times faster than typing. It’s your key to less stress and more success — at home, work, or wherever life takes you.

Turn ideas into text at the speed of thought. Tell your PC what to do and it does it. Use Dragon to talk your way through your “to-do” list — email, reports, spreadsheets, presentations, social networking, and more — quickly and confidently. Use a digital voice recorder and Dragon will transcribe the audio files when you return to your PC.

From improved accuracy and faster performance, to an intuitive user interface with a rich Help system, powerful new voice commands, and an enhanced correction and adaptation process, Dragon NaturallySpeaking 11 has been redesigned to be FASTER, BETTER and SMARTER.

The Dragon user interface now offers better usability, and includes a new Sidebar showing tips as well as many commands. It’s now easier to discover, remember, and access important Dragon features and options. New Recognition Analytics continuously monitor audio quality and alert users when there is an audio issue, to help them achieve their best accuracy. More than ever, Dragon 11 enables users to focus on their thoughts and ideas rather than the mouse, keyboard or computer screen.

Dragon 11 is more accurate out of the box than version 10, and uses state-of-the-art technology. Thanks to improvements at various levels, corrections are faster to make, and quickly become less necessary. Version 11 “learns” better than any previous version, including from existing documents and dictations as well as from corrections made via the keyboard. Dragon 11 responds faster to voice commands and also introduces new time-saving commands that consolidate multiple mouse clicks and keystrokes. It’s faster and easier to open applications, get to a particular window, move within a window, send e-mail, create appointments, search the Web, and more – all by voice. So now users can get even more done faster on their computers.

Key Benefits

Say words and watch them appear on your computer screen in Word, Word Perfect, Excel, Outlook, and more — three times faster than typing — with up to 99% recognition accuracy right out of the box.

Control your PC in a relaxed, hands-free mode without being tied to your keyboard. Say goodbye to repetitive stress injuries.

Create reports, spreadsheets or presentations; send email or schedule meetings; surf the Web; update your Facebook status or download your favorite music -- using just your voice.

MULTI-TASK LIKE NEVER BEFORE Tell your PC what to do, like “Send email to Jon Smith and Raphael Sanchez” or “Search the Web for Internet marketing companies in Guildford, Surrey” to work faster and smarter. Complete multiple steps with a single voice command.

I bought Dragon NaturallySpeaking Premium after injuring my neck and being told by my doctor not to type. I have found it completely liberating. It types more accurately than I could type with my fingers and corrections are extremely easy to make. I would stress that these corrections are generally to improve writing style rather than to correct mistakes introduced by the software. It distinguishes between dictation and computer commands very readily. I have used it with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet Explorer and Adobe reader. It is very straightforward to use and requires little training. It is pretty good with names which it finds from reading through computer files and e-mails.

I can't recommend this product highly enough. Anyone who is likely to get RSI would benefit from using it, and anyone who is good at dictation will find it faster to use than typing using fingers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Buy the best microphone you can afford 29 Sep 2010
By Graham
I have been using Dragon now for several versions. When I purchased version 10 Preferred, I thought it was clearly a step up from the previous version. I have now purchased version 11 Premium. It is not just a step up. It is a quantum leap ahead. There is speed and accuracy. But, from my past experience, the microphone which is sold with the software, always needs upgrading. In order to get the greatest accuracy and the greatest speed, you need to buy the best microphone you can afford, with the best external noise cancelling ability possible. That will save frustration in corrections and stop you going backwards, rather than going forwards. Hats off to Nuance - this is an exceedingly good product, only let down by the microphone. That is redeemable, by buying another microphone. Possibly an expensive option, but worth it. Still, the software deserves 5 stars.

3.0 out of 5 stars Tricky but I think it's very entertaining 26 Sep 2010
By Lisa Maynard VINE VOICE
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
This product is very easy to install. The CD runs an automatic process and after this, asks you to compile your own user profile to take into account any accents that might affect your voice recognition. There are only a few choices here, catering for any English/Foreign mixes in the accent. It is very important that you do vocab training in order for your voice to be recognised. I enjoyed this at first (especially the range of essays and excerpts they have for you to choose from) but it gets tiresome repeating these blocks of text after a while. Actually sitting down to use the software, I found it to be fairly fast at recognising what I'm saying, but there are still lots of errors, meaning lots more training for me. The programme makes a big effort however to ensure that audio settings are as perfect as can be before you start to transcribe. I really appreciated that the programme comes with a free microphone headset which is fairly good quality. I hope to get more use out of the whole programme in future, but you do have to be patient to use this.

5.0 out of 5 stars I dictate this review in absolute amazement 1 Oct 2010
By WireMan
Verified Purchase
I dictate this review in absolute amazement. I never thought voice recognition could be so accurate. I have only dictated about 100 words or so, but so far only a surname was incorrectly spelt. I have tested it's accuracy with words such as psychology, metaphysics, Pythagoras, biology, platypus, contiguous. I could go on, and I will, absolutely unbelievably downright fantastic! I previously used via voice version 10 that I found to be absolutely useless. I'll try a well-known phrase to test it accuracy.

"The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog".

I dictate this with a West Midlands accident, which it appears to have no difficulty with. Let's try some punctuation and symbols: !"$% & (") Hash sign? <>= Plus sign. How about I rattle off some numbers: 1234567890. Okay, one or two wrong, but not too bad. So far I have done the basic voice recognition training and program seems to be recognising most of the things that I say. In what has to be said is quite a fast-paced speech pattern. Here I go again: Orthotic, psychosis, malaise, paraplegic, Downs syndrome, hypertension, hypnotic, psychotic, Neoclassicism, necromancer subcommittee, subterranean.

Dictated from Mosby nurse's pocket dictionary (some of the words the software recognised correctly): laminectomy, osteoarthritis, polypeptide, mastectomy, spondylosis, haemorrhage & strabismus.

9.99 out of 10 excellent!

5.0 out of 5 stars Naturally great 19 Sep 2010
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
I had been meaning to try this product for many years. But it was only recently that I got my first copy of it through the Amazon Vine programme. So I'm using Dragon Naturally Speaking to write this review.

I found this setup in Windows 7 very easy to do and after a short period of training the machine to recognise my voice I was able to open Microsoft office and start creating documents.

Having never used this type of software previously, as I saw my words appear in type in front of me I was quite amazed. I was especially impressed by the accuracy of the recognition software. I can immediately see that this is going to become one of my favourite pieces of software and that I will use it a great deal.

I have already noticed that it has affected the way that I think when I'm writing and I'm able to produce work more quickly and to think more clearly when I'm not distracted by the need to focus on operating the keyboard.

On the technical front, although I had an error message as the software installed saying that my computer had too little memory to function properly in fact the software runs very smoothly indeed. If you have never tried this software previously I can't recommend it highly enough.
