5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful imaginative pictures make this special, 26 Sep 2005
By ELH Browning "Esther-Lou" (Kingston Bagpuize, Oxon) - See all my reviews

This review is from: The Dragon Machine (Paperback)
I picked this up while browsing in a book shop the other day. It stood out from the ranks of brightly-coloured picture books because of an ethereal twilight quality to its illustrations. George see dragons wherever he goes, and if the reader looks carefully, they too will spot tails from pockets, and dragons perched on chimney pots. The dragons begin to follow George around causing trouble and it's time for him to return them to great wilderness from whence they came. So he builds a beautiful dragon-shaped machine for them to follow home. And then George goes home leaving thoughts of dragons behind.... or has he? It's a gentle story which has been made into something rather special by the beautiful imaginative presentation and my children love it. Perfect for ages 2-5ish.

5.0 out of 5 stars A beautifully illustrated book for littles, 22 Aug 2005
By A Customer
This review is from: The Dragon Machine (Paperback)
I first borrowed this book from the library and we all loved it so much: I had to buy it. My children, six and four, loved the illustrations, which are dreamlike and involving. The story is touching, funny and has a wonderful twist at the end. The words are relativly simple, but as it is well written, it can be enjoyed on many levels. I would have thought anyone who loved dragons, of any age, would find this book charming.

LOvely story especially for those children who like dragons. Illustrations are wonderful and will capture the imagination of any child.
