THE CLASSIC DIRK PITT ADVENTURE

A NUCLEAR PEARL HARBOUR

Buried in the depths of the Pacific Ocean, off the coast of Japan, lies one of the greatest drowned secrets of World Wart Two – a crashed B–29 Bomber that was carrying a third atomic bomb to Japan in 1945.

Its deadly cargo, lost in the sea for nearly fifty years, is at the heart of this classic Dirk Pitt thriller, in which a small group of Japanese nationalist fanatics, dreaming of a new Nipponese Empire, set out to neutralise and blackmail the USA – with nuclear weapons planted strategically in the country’s major cities…

Clive at his best 7 Feb 2007
Format:Paperback
I have been a Clive Cussler fan for several years, but this is by far the best I have read to date. A few pages in when on a car transporter ship, the book grabs your attention with the force of a sledgehammer and doesn't let go until the very end. A must for any Clive Cussler fan, and if your not a fan read this book and you soon will be !!!!

I enjoyed Dragon. It's my first Clive Cussler novel and it kept me entertained and wanting to constantly read on. You can definitely describe it as a 'page-turner'. I was a bit perplexed by the fact that the crashed B-29 bomber is given so much emphasis both with regard to the front cover and the back cover blurb. After being introduced to it in the opening pages it disappears and doesn't put in another appearance until near the end of the novel. Still it makes a good cover I suppose. There were several things which I disliked about the novel however which is why I'm not giving it five stars. The Japanese are made out to be the enemy which is all very well but at times it almost borders on prejudice. Then there is Suma's army of robots. I know that this is fiction and essentially an adult version of a 'Boy's Own' adventure story but come on, a robot army is stretching credulity somewhat. Oh and writing yourself into the novel as a brief character is self indulgence of the highest magnitude.

Other than that it's a thoroughly enjoyable action adventure novel.

As with Treasure and Sahara, Dragon is also a definate Clive Cussler classic. The book is absolutely gripping from start to finish and as it is read Dirk Pitt is once again proven to be a super hero. Excellent.

Dragon is one of Clive Cussler's best novels, rivalled only by Raise the Titanic( do not be put off by the dreadful Lew Grade film adaptation) and Sahara. Read more

Possibly the worst book I have ever read!
This book could not be more cheesey if it was printed on thinly sliced cheddar. I actually had to put the book down after the author introduced a cameo character with his own name. Read more
