3.0 out of 5 stars Good different type of a DBZ game. 22 Feb. 2013
Platform for Display:Xbox 360
Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
The name of the game is a bit misleading (because it doesn't play like a Tenkaichi game), but nevertheless, if you're open minded you might enjoy it.

Story:
A) It covers from Dragon Ball Z (Saiyan to Buu's sagas) to Dragon Ball GT (Omega Shenron saga). It can last for 3 to 6 days if you don't play it all at once, and it does get a bit boring if a break isn't given, in my opinion.

B) Hero Mode - you get to create your own male Saiyan character which you can customise and make him powerup to a powerful level which will then you'll use him on online matches against others. This is the best way of battling against others because you may have equally the same abilities as your opponent, which doesn't leave you in loss.

Gameplay:
The gameplay is based on two buttons mainly, Defence or Attack, and when you choose either one you'll either win or lose the clash as it is a random choice by the computer, for who wins the clash. Other than this, the gameplay is pretty solid and fun to play.

Do remember to ALWAYS have ki (energy) because if you don't, and your enemy attacks you, you literally can't do anything but get attacked with the attack/beam he throws at you. Strategise always.

Graphics:
Excellent, by far my favourite graphics on a DBZ game and they're pretty close to the ones on the manga.

Music:
Great variety on in-game music and cutscene music, although, the cutscene soundtrack is far better than the in-game's music.

Online:
There's always likely to be players available, but ideally create a match and wait for one to show up, it should be pretty fast.

Though this is one of the best looking DBZ games on the 360 so far,game-play wise, it is not so great. The mechanics are different for using your super and ultimate attacks. There is new meter you must charge up up doing melee moves. The game is full of quick-tme events and it gets boring after a few hours, as it feels tedious. You will find yourself not using your ultimate moves, as by the time you get to use them based on the new meter mechanic, they will be on low health and you can just kill them quicker with a super or melee attack and save a bit of time.

It looks good when you see a character brace themselves for an super or ultimate attack ,but as i said after playing for a few hours it gets annoying and you will just wish that the attack would hit them. The game does a a good amount of content and a lot of the music is great as well.

I recommend this only if you like quick-time events and are a fan of the show or games. The game is good but has a few things wrong with it that make it a little tedious to play.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good but samey 11 Sept. 2012
Platform for Display:Xbox 360
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
This game is very fun to play and gives you a lot of freedom to do what you want throughout the storyline, however gameplay does become quite samey and you will often find yourself repeating the same moves in every single battle, if you don't mind this then I would highly recommend. However if not then I would have to say, look for a different game, this is not for you

2.0 out of 5 stars Pretty but fragile... 28 Oct. 2011

Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
Yet another addition to the dragonball z gaming world and, unfortunately, no less flawed than it's predecessors. I'll write this review primarily for those familiar with the franchise so newcomers to the dragonball z world probably won't find this particularly useful...Anywho, I'll begin with the positives:
- Graphics are superb. Environments are far more dynamic (e.g. you create craters with some of your more powerful attacks)
- Story mode has been vamped up. Cutscenes are like clips from the anime itself and clearly some effort has been made to convey the 'epicness' of the storyline. It's also a bit more coherent than previous DBZ titles.
- Some new mini-games are a welcome addition e.g. flying pursuits and the battle against great- ape Vegeta.
- Voice-acting is ok.
- You have to salute the create your own 'Hero Mode.' Personally, I haven't tried it yet.

Now then, the gritty part:
- Loading screens...So many of them it hurts my brain.
- The story is primarily told in a slooooooooooooooow scrolling text before each battle. Maybe I'm just impatient, but it just seems unnecessarily tedious.
- Music is terrible, but you can't turn it off otherwise for some reason you can't hear what anyone's saying in the cut-scenes.
- The freedom to roam between battles during story-mode is back, but utterly plain and uninteresting. Pointless random battles and the option to enter a tournament which takes too long don't really add much to the gameplay.
- The fighting itself is a chore for me I'm afraid. At first, it's breathtakingly good and exciting. Then it slowly sinks in that EVERY character fights in the same way, seems to have the same level of power and each and every individual fight becomes a clone of the last one with a different punching bag...
