"Just" great. 29 Mar 2010
Platform for Display:Xbox 360
Fun:
To begin with, this is a great and worthy expansion. If you liked the original game, you will like this one, no doubt. It's tailored in the very very same fashion.

That said, it has a huge burden over its shoulders: the original game was TOO good. Most people have even played Mass Effect 2, also from Bioware and very similar to Dragon age, and Mass Effect 2 is damm good. So, for this Dragon Age expansion pack everyone is expecting it to be even better. We want a lot of characters, and we want them to be great. We want loads and loads of gameplay hours. We want new weapons, new scenarios, new enemies... We want, to sum up, Dragon Age 2. And no, this isn't Dragon age 2, this is "just" a expansion. No more, NO LESS.

You can keep your Dragon age character, thus carrying over "all" your decisions made back then, or you can create a new character. If you import, you are a hero after all, so people look upon you like that; if you create a new character, you are just a grey warden no-one has ever heard about. Your decisions in the original game and your character change some parts of the game, but even then it's not such a big change.

You made a lot of decissions, some of them early in the game, and they all shape the way the game ends. Again, its just like the original game. If you liked it back then, you will like it now, for sure.

The new characters are nice. You may like some more than others, but anyway, they are well-written. If any, I personally think the game lacks of a OUTSTANDING character, just like Morrigan was to me in the original game. They are all, as the overall game, "just" great.

Just a very bad point: the game currently has a lot of bugs. Some of them are forgiveable, like some graphic glitches; but there are other killer ones, like "falling outside of the world" or getting stuck in a loading screen, both forcing you to load a savegame, God knows when it was saved. Those are not forgiveable. They will be fixed, though.

The Saga continues. 31 May 2010
By M C Yeo
Platform for Display:Xbox 360
Fun:
After quickly becoming addicted to DragonAge Origins, I was eagerly looking forward to this next installment. DragonAge Origins Awakening hasnt disappointed. However it should be looked at, as a worthy expansion to DragonAge itself, if you havnt played the original, this is a standalone game, however my strongest recommendation would be to invest in Origins first. This brings out, what I consider to be an excellent starting point to this game, you can carry your original character, and some of the consequences of the previous games decisions over with you, and once more progress that character, with new abilities, career paths, and once more make those hard choices the games storyline thrusts upon you. However, apart from the one exdeption, you will have to recruit an entirely new party, with a reduced amount of characters you can select from compared to the original game. However they can still fulfill the same roles as members from the original DragonAge. For the casual gamer like myself there is that all important difficulty slide, for you to select and the same complexity to tactics, employed by your party members (ie. You get what you put into it.) This game hasnt in my opinion stepped up a level from its previous namesake, just tweaked a few things, and cut down slightly on the party interaction. So if you already possess DragonAge origins, enjoyed it and are looking for some more action in the world of Feralden, then this is a worthy addition to your gaming collection.

A Great Add-on 29 April 2010
Platform for Display:Xbox 360
Fun:
Whilst not as complete and vast as the original game, this add-on pack is more of the same, which is no bad thing. The new characters are good, though as superficial as those in the main game and this extra pack is as bug ridden as the original.

That said, this is a great fun game to play with new areas to explore and different enemies to face. It's easier than the first, but then as that was as tough as nails, a little relief is a good thing. Worth getting if you were a fan of Origins.

Great game
A great follow on to the original game. I like that you can use your previous characters as well from the original game, so there's no need to re-create another character. Read more
