Product Description

Product Description

All about the most popular monsters of D&D--the dragons!

Draconomicon I: Chromatic Dragons describes several varieties of dragons, including red, blue, green, black, and white dragons, as well as three completely new chromatic dragons.

This sourcebook gives details of each dragon's powers, tactics, myths, lairs, servitors, and more. In addition, this book provides new information about draconic nations (such as Arkhosia) and organizations, and how chromatic dragons fit into the D&D game. Wide-ranging story and campaign elements in the book give DMs ready-to-play material that is easily incorporated into a gane, including adventure hooks, quests, and pregenerated treasure hoards.

Draconmicon, being one of the more expensive supplements for 4th edition, It is well worth the money. It is of much better value than the 3rd edition one. WOTC have carefully layed out the different types of dragons, their anatomy and other valuable information, it comes with a bounty of sample encouters that can be easily intergrated into an adventure, aswell as other draconic creatures like Drogonborn, drakes and draconic parasites among other things. It makes it extremely easy to add Daconic elements to your campaign, all-in-all a very good read.

I wasn't dissapointed when I recieved this book, I am a huge fan of these mythical beasts an to be honest It's a book of dragons first and a D&D suppliment second.

Your recieve some interesting info on the chromatic dragons of the D&D universe with sections involving anatomy, life cycles, dragon species, different types of lairs, minions and even some famous dragons from the D&D stories from Cyan Bloodbane from the dragonlance series to the godess of greed herself: Tiamat.

As for the dragon species there are 8 in total. The first five (Red, black, blue, green and white) dragons are mentioned in the first monster manual and this book gives details of the species preferances and treasure hoards. The other three are Brown, Gray and Purple dragons that as far as I know are only detailed in this book.

A friend of mine is a bigger fan of dragons than me and he is not a D&D player, but when he skimmed its pages he loved it so much he wants his own copy.

I hope this review has helped.

Derivative dragons 20 May 2009

These product is probably useful for a DM who is running out of ideas for combats, which occupies most of the last half of the book. The first half tries to get across the flavours of dragons which i didn't think was neccessary. It does flush out the details of dragons, which means if they aren't a big party of your world it will save you effort but thats about it.
