Product Description

Doctor Michaela Quinn is an opinionated woman with a fiercely independent spirit. In an age where civilised women were expected to be seen and not heard, and to be ever obedient and subservient, Dr Mike bravely left her opulent surroundings in Boston far behind to forge a new life for herself on the wild frontier, facing, and conquering, the prejudices of the townsfolk in Colorado Springs. Now, with her practice thriving and trust in her growing, her influence effects everyone, in the town as well as the nearby Indian reservation. In series 5 Dr Mike is battling to divide her time equally between the newly born Katie while tending the needs of the townsfolk, as well as finding time for romance with Sully. Can she find time to help the town s vicar, his eyesight getting worse by the day? Colleen s feelings for Dr Cook continue to blossom, but can their friendship grow with her away at college? And when Cloud Dancing is brutally attacked just how far will Sully go to protect his best friend? Will he commit treason?

Synopsis

Set in the 19th century, DR. QUINN, MEDICINE WOMAN involves the turbulent life of a doctor who makes a new life for herself in the wilds of the Colorado Springs. Michela 'Mike' Quinn (Jane Seymour) is the doctor in question, who leaves the safe surroundings of Boston in order to bring more advanced medical practices to a brand new frontier. The action centres around her life, her family, and the people she treats in the local town. She chooses to raise three children after their mother passes away from a fatal rattlesnake bite, which perfectly illustrates her kind nature and willingness to help others. This release presents series five of the show in its entirety. Having won five Emmy awards, the show has firmly established a place for itself in the televisual history books, and devoted fans of the series are sure to be delighted at this chance to own further installments of this gripping period drama.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dr Quinn Medicine Woman, 18 Jun 2009
By Helena Lucas - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This series is most highly motivating for the restless spirit. Michaella pursues her dreams and her goals are set within her frame of values upon respect and personal freedom, and equality. Inspiration and strength is transmitted through the wisdom of Cloud Dancing. Lessons on living in harmony despite unequal levels of education and experience can be learned, and also the unmeasurable power of forgiveness is revealed. Sully and Dr Quinn face issues just as any other couple, although their setting is beautiful as can be in their beloved mountains. Even for dog or animal lovers, the character of Wolfe will transmit strength and wildness shining with loyalty to a life-long friend. Sully struggles to find happiness while witnessing undesirable outcomes among peoples of differing cultures, however his love of life as he pictures it is powerful enough to make of this a tangible reality surrounded by his new family with Michaella and the children, and by old Indian friends.
