The boots are amazing, the price is great (compared to purchase in an "actual" store). The delivery was fast so I really think amazon did a great job. A warning for women who order this model (men's size) is in place though. I looked around the internet for dr martens sizing info to see if there was a difference in female and mens sizes. Everywhere I looked people in forums etc said to order 2 sizes down from what you wear in female sizes. When it comes to this boot however this is not true, something I discovered when I tried the boots on. A men's size 5 is a women's size 5! Since I live in Sweden the cost of returning the shoes would be quite a lot so this especially applies to people ordering outside the UK.

...is because (while these are still technically genuine Doc Martens) they are the ones which are made in Thailand and not the UK. The far superior UK-made ones will say 'Made in England' on the sole while these ones say 'The Originals'- and this is where it's confusing. Mine felt like plastic rather than leather and while the uppers are indeed leather, the navy colour is a very thin coating applied over the leather, giving it that rigid, plasticky feeling. The colouring also comes off where the laces rub against the tongue, which is something I'm really not happy with but at least it isn't clearly visible. I was hoping that the colouring would have been applied through dyeing of the leather, which would presumably have left the leather feeling soft and supple without any additional coatings being applied. However, no amount of polishing will remove the rigid feeling despite the fact that I've well broken them in now. What's more is that I've begun to notice tiny surface cracks along areas of stress and, while I think this is just in the plastic coating, it's not exactly ideal.

It's worth spending that bit more on the Doc Martens which have 'Made in England' on the sole; the leather is far thicker than the Thai ones. Not surprisingly, due to where these have been manufactured, every expense seems to have been spared- hence the price (mine were £60 compared to the going rate of around £190 for the better quality ones which I wished I had bought instead... but as they say, 'buy cheap- buy twice').

EDIT: Since buying these and them wearing out (which didn't take long), I have purchased a new pair of vintage 1460 Docs from Dr Martens direct. These are a replica style of the ones which rolled off the production line in April 1960.

The Docs are exactly as I expected them - big, clompy, leather, and beautiful. However, I have found that the stitching near the bottom of the lacing on the left foot has started to come loose. This hasn't effected the boot functionally yet, though it is a little upsetting, especially seeing as the brand (and the boots specifically) have a reputation for being well-made and long lasting. I bought this item about a month ago; not exactly what I'd call a decent period of time for this deterioration to occur in.
Otherwise, spectacular.

These arent the real deal by a long shot - made in Thailand, the material feels like plastic and is wafer thin. They look like they will fall apart. These may not be fake, but you can certainly tell the difference between the british made Dr Martens.

I'm very dissapointed with the quality and have promptly returned for a refund. I will update on the how the return goes.

Update - My return of the item went smoothly, no hassle whatsoever. Amazon top class service - just unfortunate about the product

I ordered this one and have it to be replaced. There are 2 made of them, Thailand and Vietnam. Made in thailand has a better quality of work except leather quality. Made in Vietnam has a better quality comparing to made in thailand. But made in Vietnam shape will extremely hurt your fore foot. Need to spend sometime on break in period.

Just recieved these today and I thought, first impressions, that they were actually just plastic instead of leather..
They feel alright when i'm not standing in them but when standing, moving and any general ankle movement is painful. This may be because they aren't broken in or they may be a bit too big.
I don't know whether to change them for a smaller size that may not fit, break 'em in and risk them never feeling better or just send them off.
I think the huge hype about them made me even less impressed when I saw them as they don't feel too great and it's a big let down.
From this, I am glad I never forked out for a full price pair as £100 would leave me feeling ripped off (and paying even more for a pair that are possibly better quality is a risk I would not take as all my faith in doc martens has dissipated.)
These shoes left me wanting much more in terms of quality but they look nice at least.
