Dr Daniel Keown MBChB MCEM Lic Ac. first got interested in Chinese medicine as a teenager from travelling tales recounted by his grandmother. In 1998 he qualified in medicine from Manchester University, England and then obtained a degree in Acupuncture from The College of Integrated Chinese Medicine in 2008. He continues to practice medicine having passed the membership exams of the College of Emergency Medicine (MCEM) in 2014. His enduring aim is to re-establish acupuncture and Qi at the forefront of medicine in the West. To this aim he published The Spark In The Machine in 2014 which shows how the principles of Chinese medicine can be fully explained with a deeper understanding of how the human body works, an understanding that necessitates a semi-mystical force at work ie Qi.
He lives in Kent with his wife and two children, and still searches for the elusive perfect wave.
