Book Description

9 May 2011
FBI Agent Morgan Nash is on assignment in London when his case goes awry and he finds himself moments away from a bullet through the heart. But fate has other plans: Morgan gets knocked out pursuing a suspect... and wakes up in 1888. While cataloging ancient manuscripts at the British Museum, Ezra Glacenbie accidentally pulls Morgan out of the twenty-first century-an impromptu vacation that may become permanent for Morgan if they can't locate the spellbook Ezra used. Further hampering Morgan's quest to get home is the irresistible temptation to investigate history's most notorious serial killer: Jack the Ripper. But in repressive Victorian London, it's the unexpected romance blossoming between Morgan and Ezra that becomes the most dangerous complication of all.

5.0 out of 5 stars amazing and enchanting male romance. 10 Oct 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
i enjoyed tamaras first book and saw this on the free lists couple of days back so bought it. Its really well written and edited, the characters are incredible - i felt i was there with them, laughed when they laughed and creid wheh they cried. the multiple little sub plots peppered through the main story were done well, and added to the overall feel of the tale. Its not a gay romance where we get graphic descriptions of sex all the while but more a slow burn where we are slowly entranced by a look here, a touch on a sleeve and when they two finally get together the magic is so real we don't need to read graphic descriptions to know that what they are doing and feeling is Hot. loved the ending, cried at first part and was soo happy when it all came together.
i can't recommend this book highly enough - its an incredible well written romance and you feel you're there with them. I'm picky about my star ratings - not that much gets 5 but this one certainly makes the grade. 5Stars and looking for what tamara writes next :)

5.0 out of 5 stars : Another great read from Tamara Allen 16 July 2011
Format:Paperback
May Contain Spoilers: Having read 'Whistling in the Dark', I was curious to see if Ms Allen could follow it up with her latest offer, 'Downtime, which sees a 21st Century NY crime fighter, transported to London in 1888. WITD was a great book with engaging and warm characters, so could she do it again? Absolutely! 'Downtime' is a wonderful book.

Once again two distinct and intresting male leads. I loved Ezra's gentle dry wit, and he was a good foil to our hero 21st century Morgan. In fact Ezra, IMHO, is the real star of this story. The other characters , especially Derry, felt real and added texture to the story.

The only thing that I felt was not successful about the book, was Morgan's pursuit of Jack the Ripper. In a book with so much going for it, this was superflous, and did not add that much to an already great story. The sexual content was gentle and tasteful, yet still very sensual. I liked the way she built up the relationship between Morgan and Ezra. It felt like a love worth fighting for. Allen does not write one dimensional characters, and it one of her strengths as a writer. All of them have shades of dark and light and it is wonderful to watch the evolve.

Unlike a lot of m/m fiction this not a quick shallow read. Allen has taken care to give us a sense of time and space, and the story unfolds slowly. Stay with it, as with WITD you will not be disappointed. I was sad to leave these characters, and it almost begs a sequel (hint, hint):-) Highly Recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Read 9 May 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I don't usually write reviews but after reading Downtime I had to write it. When I downloaded it for free I was not expecting it to turn out to be such a good book. The characters in the book were very mature and really likable. The story was very original. A fantastic read throughout. The subplots and all the other supporting characters very also great. Couldn't put the book down once I started reading it. I have downloaded another Tamara Allen book after this. just couldn't stop myself :)
Certainly Deserves Five star or more if I could give it. I will keep my eye on other books from this author
