5.0 out of 5 stars Another great addition to her Intervention series! 28 Feb 2012
By Pirate2240 - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Emily Covington, despite her past life of severe drug addiction, has turned her life around, committing her self to a yearlong treatment program and has been completely sober for a little over five years now. Despite her efforts though, her family still has trouble trusting her, always afraid that she may relapse; Emily has a lot to prove.

One morning as Emily rushes out to her car to make it on time for her college exam, she sets fire to her car by turning the ignition and discovers a homemade bomb duct taped to the underside of her car. Police cannot find to much evidence left behind by the assassin at the crime scene, and begin searching for possible suspects, having to dig through Emily's years as a drug addict to get to them. Who wants Emily dead and why? To make matters worse, the wife of one her friends was also murdered that same morning.

Emily, wanting to find the connection between her and the on going murders around her, frantically begins exhausting her resources to try and identify the killer and save the next potential victim. But with her past, no family support, and not knowing anyone in her new town, Emily finds this exceedingly difficult and is afraid that she may not be able to catch the killer in time.

Downfall by Terri Blackstock (An Intervention Novel) kept me hooked until the very end as do all of her amazing novels. Blackstock did a terrific job concealing who the murder was until the very last pages! I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys murder mysteries, and action/thriller novels!

I received this book compliments of Shelton Interactive and Zondervan Publishers for my honest review and would rate this novel a 5 out of 5 stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Downfall is sure to keep you reading into the wee hours! 30 Mar 2012

The Covington family has had their share of pain and trials in both Intervention and Vicious Cycle...but it's not over yet! Downfall revisits Barbara, Emily, Lance, and Kent as they adjust to a new life in Atlanta, Georgia...and find themselves mixed up in another murder that, once again, seems to be pinned on recovering drug-addict Emily. Has she once again reverted back to using, or is someone setting her up?

Terri Blackstock nailed this one on the head--Downfall was definitely my favorite in the series! With sporadic scenes from `The Avenger's' point-of-view and an interesting twist to a Alfred Hitchcock movie, Downfall beings strong and keeps amping up the suspense, tension, drama!

Emily has been free from drugs for about two years, but that doesn't mean she still struggles with her past addiction. I really came to admire Emily as she fought her flesh so hard--even when she was emotionally and physically hurting, she resisted going back to drugs to help ease her problems. Instead, she leaned on the Lord, trusting Him to be strong when she could not...and He was!

I was slightly sad to see the Intervention series come to an end and say goodbye to the Covingtons, I think it is for the best--this poor family needs a break from all the trauma they've enduring the past few years. The ending was really sweet, leaving me contented with how this wonderful cast of characters ends up. Terri Blackstock certainly fulfills her trademark, Up All Night Suspense!! Downfall is sure to keep you reading into the wee hours!

I reviewed this book for Zondervan. Many thanks to Shelby for sending me a copy to review. It was not required that I give a positive review, but solely to express my own thoughts and opinions of this book, which I have done.

2.0 out of 5 stars disappointed 1 Mar 2012

I normally love Terri Blackstock's books. They usually draw you in and keep you there. BUT this one did not live up to that for me. I could have read the first 50 and the last 50 pages and not missed a thing. And I knew it from the time Emily "had an idea". (not wanting to spoil it for others) It just didn't do it for me this time. Sorry Terri. I will still look forward to her upcoming books but don't buy this one. Get it from your library if you must read it.
