My grandson loves his trains. He is 17 months old and has a brain like a sponge taking in all the information around him, so good books with lots of stimulation and on his favourite subject makes this book ideal. It is bright, with lots of lovely illustrations, so pointing out things together as well as the story is good fun.

This book was purchased for a primary school library as one of the children was very interested in train books. This is an ideal book for younger children and takes parents back to a time of steam trains.

This is definitely an "on-lap" shared read (yes, I'm a doting grandparent). Clear illustrations and short dialog keeps the active minds interested in whats next. The holes are quite a brilliant idea - we do have several of these now and they are always a first choice from the reading corner.

The children at nursery under 3 years old really enjoyed this book and ask staff time and time again to read it to them.

Mind worm
I read this to my twins and all day I hum the tune. My wife says I needn't sing it when the children are not in the car.
