A beautiful book of photographs by New Zealand photographer Anne Gedes. Two years in production it contains truly brilliant photos of babies in various guises related to the garden.
Obviously painstakingly produced to extremely high photographic standards, and a unique approach to child photography. There aren't many photographic works that eminate from New Zealand, but if this is the only one it will set a standard that other photographers will have to work hard to beat.
It is exceptional in so many ways, and the humour of each study is so beautifully contrived that they cannot fail to appeal.
It is notoriously difficult to photograph babies (most of Anne's subjects are only months old) so the time, patience, skill and unbelievable resources employed are nothing but stupendous.
As a working photographer I am used to the difficulties related to certain subjects, and I can honestly say that a project such as this would prove daunting to most. Full marks to the author and the team that produced this wonderful book, I hope that its success can be repeated on another theme.
