Product Description

Product Description

The modern saltdough tradition dates from 19th-century Germany where peasants made Christmas tree ornaments from salted bread dough. The technique is cheap, quick and versatile and requires no special skills or expensive equipment. This text comprises 15 step-by-step projects to make as gifts or keep. They include fridge magnets, a candle holder and a picture frame. Instructions are provided for all the basic techniques for making shapes and decorating the finished pieces, and there is a gallery of additional ideas at the start of the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely inspirational. Simple & Fun., 13 Mar 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Dough Craft in a Weekend (Crafts in a Weekend) (Paperback)
Curiosity made me buy the book but now I'm producing Doughcraft by the dozen. The book is easy to follow and the samples are easy to make. You then find yourself looking at other objects and wondering whether you can re-create them in dough. A good book for any beginner and it can be done in a weekend!

This book has inspired me to make realistic effigies of almost everything, I just use my imagination and let it run away with me!

4.0 out of 5 stars Dough craft made easy, 18 Nov 2011
This is a lovely introduction into dough craft and it makes it look easy to achieve, unfortunately with the price of gas and electricity these days I think it would be quite an expensive hobby as you need to bake some of these pieces for 8 - 12 hours! Nice to do as a one off.
