i'm presuming that the 3d pack will have 3d and 2d and the dvd will be in the other pack .I would like to know if the extra features are on both sets or just the 1.I made the mistake of getting TRANSFORMERS DARK OF THE MOON on triple play not knowing there was a 3d version being released later that included features and a 2d version.I ended up buying both so i would like to know before ordering.
At this moment I'm quite disappointed for the UK Blu-Ray releases of this movie: single disc editions, no bonus discs, no steelbooks, no gadgets/bonus stuff...couldn't they have done better for a movie that detains the third largest income of all times and that obviously will sell an insane amount of discs in the home video market?
I have already preordered the German 3D edition. I couldn't care less about 3D, but it's a steelbook, it has the 2D disc and also a bonus disc, so it's much more appealing to me, even if it's a little more expensive...and it's titled "The Avengers" (which is the original title and it doesn't take up too much space on the cover), not "Avengers Assemble" (yeah, I know why they had to change the title for the UK release of this movie, but it's a pity).
Actually HMV are releasing a steelbook. No artwork available just yet, but it's confirmed. But I totally agree, why is it just a single disc, especially when all the others were Triple Plays. It's Disney, so I want a Avengers Assemble Superset, just like Up's and Alice in Wonderland's.
@D. I. Whiteley, all european Blu-Ray are region 2, including the German ones.
The steelbook German edition has 3 BD: one disc with the movie in 3D, one disc with the movie in 2D and one bonus disc that should be a 90min "making of" (I'm not 100% sure about the content of the bonus disc, I'm basing this assumption on the fact that an Italian edition of The Avengers has listed a 90min "making of" as the content of the bonus disc, so I suppose it would be the same for the German edition).
By the way, it seems that there will be an Italian double play steelbok edition, containing a BD with the 2D movie and a BD with the bonus content (again the 90min "making of").
@Nik Davies, thanks, interesting info, I'll keep an eye on that.
If you hurry. You can preorder the Avengers steelbook for £12.79 using the code 'H8BLU20'. That ends tonight at midnight (11/06/12) UK Time. Usual price is £15.99. I haven't done it, as I don't know the artwork and also it's months from release. That code also works with any Blu-ray on their site (until tonight).
The reason why this is such a poor release compared to the previous Marvel films is that this is a Disney release whereas the others were Paramount's. Recently in the UK Disney has stopped doing double plays and has included very few extras on their discs, so this latest release follows on from that.
This is everything all-in-one for DVD & BD/3D/2D and all for $30. However, imports valued at over £15.00 postage inclusive are now subject to 20% tax and £8.00 Parcelforce clearance fee here in the UK. It is pretty random which packages are stopped for inspection and you may get away with your item being delivered without the customs problem if you are very lucky.
Also note US store TARGET has the same BD exclusive 90 min documentary in their versions.
